Job Description

Job Title: People and Workforce Advisor

Grade: Band 5

Reports To: Senior People and Workforce Manager

Accountable To: Director of People and Organisational Development

Job Purpose:

To provide HR professional support to our staff contributing to the provision of a


high quality, compassionate and effective operational Human Resources Service
to the Trust.

To provide support and assistance to the wider HR team in relation to well-being


and engagement, sickness absence management and employee relations issues.

Key Result Areas:

As part of the operational HR Team, provide support to our managers within the
Trust on all HR issues ensuring that all advice supports Divisional and Trust
objectives in accordance with legislation, NHS and Trust Terms and Conditions,
Trust policies and procedures and HR best practice.

Ensure that all managers implement Human Resources Policies in a fair and
inclusive manner.

To respond to HR first line queries with advice and guidance to managers and staff
in the following areas:-

 Terms and Conditions of Employment


 Sickness Absence
 Special Leave
 Flexible Working
 Maternity
 Performance & Capability
 Dignity at Work
 Job evaluation

Provide HR support to the wider HR Team in Disciplinary, Grievance, Performance


& Capability and Dignity at Work concerns; either informally and trying to resolve
them at the lowest level possible in line with the “Just Culture” ethos or with formal
investigations, hearings and appeals where necessary.

Provide support to managers in the management of short and long term sickness
cases in conjunction with Occupational Health and in line with the Trust’s Sickness
Absence Management Policy.

To collate, analyse and report on Trust sickness absence data within the Trust for
the wider HR team.

To participate in Agenda for Change job matching and job evaluation panels as
required.

Provide support on the implementation of organisational change and


organisational development initiatives as appropriate.

To be involved in drafting and updating Human Resources policies and


procedures, as required.

In conjunction with other members of the HR team, to develop and deliver training
sessions for staff and managers in relation to updates in HR policies/procedures
as required.

To participate in initiatives which promote staff engagement and health and


wellbeing within the Trust.

General Items:

To provide short-term cover for colleagues during periods of leave.

To ensure that all Trust standards are maintained and monitored to improve the
quality of care to all whom come into contact with services provided by South
Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust.

at work, and to co-operate with the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust to
ensure that statutory and Trust regulations are complied with.

To participate in appraisals and personal reviews and work to achieve agreed set
objectives.

To participate in appropriate training and development activities

To participate in team, professional and personal development activities and


promote commitment to continuous development and improvement.

Ensure that all staff consciously review mistakes, complaints and incidents/near
misses as well as successes to improve performance and the level of customer
care.

All employees will have an organisational and individual responsibility towards


safeguarding vulnerable adults, young people and children. Where employees are
working with children, young people and families they have a responsibility to
cooperate in national safeguarding policy around early intervention activities
appropriate to improving health outcomes.

As a major provider of health care, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust


operate a Smoke Free Policy by providing a totally smoke free environment to help
aid patients’ recovery, promote health and wellbeing and minimize the risks of
complications attributed to smoking tobacco and second hand smoke.

For Band 5 and below

Recognise the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles and be aware of health


and wellbeing initiatives.

To abide by Infection Prevention and Control policies relevant to their area of work,
and undertake the necessary level of training. This will be appraised through the
KSF review process or other relevant professional review process.

To contribute to promoting and implementing the Trust's Carbon Management


policy, in line with team and organisational objectives.
