SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

MATH 1
I- OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of time and non-standards

units of length, mass and capacity.
B. Performance Standards: The learner is able to apply knowledge of time and non-
standard measures of length, mass and capacity in mathematical problems and real-life
situations
C. Learning Competencies: Tells and writes time by hour, haft hour and quarter-hour using
analog clock. (M1ME-IVb-3)
D. CONTENT (Subject Matter)
Telling and writing time by hour, haft-hour and quarter-hour using analog clock
Integration: Araling Panlipunan Araw-araw na gawain na tumutogon sa alituntunin ng pamilya
Value Focus: Valuing time
II - LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teachers Guide pages:
2. Lesson Guide in ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICs Grade 1 (TEXT BOOK) pp. 143-148
3. Learners Materials pages: Elementary Mathematics grade 1, 1 Learner's Materials pp.
143-148
4. Textbook pages: Mathematics 1 pp. 143-148
5. Additional Materials from Learning Resource portal:

B. Other Learning Resources: pictures, activity sheet, real objects, analog clock

III – PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previews lesson
Let the pupil sing
Ask:
1. A_______is perfectly round it has no corners
2. A_______has 4 sides and 4 corners
3. A_______has 4 equal sides and 4 corners
4. A_______has 3 sides and 3 corners
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
Present a picture of a girl preparing to go to school.
Tell:
This is Ana schedule
6:00am O’clock Ana wake up
6:30am morning Ana take a bath. Ask:
7:00am O’clcock Ana go to school. 1. Who is going to school?
2. What time Ana go to school?
6:00 o’clock Ana eat dinner. 3. What time Ana study time?
7:00 o’clock Ana study time
9:00 o’clock Ana sleeping time

a. Today we are going to study telling and reading time by hour (Present an example of
An analog clock) and discuss the problem given.
b. Let the pupils watch the discussion on how to tell and read by hour through a video
Presentation.

1. How many hands does a clock have?

2. Which hands tells the hour, minute and seconds?
3. How many minutes in 1 hour?
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1
Using improvised Analog clock ask the pupils to tell and read the hour given:
1.1:00 oclock 6.6:00 oclock. 11.11:00 o'clock
2. 2:00 o’clock. 7.7:00 oclock 12. 12:00 o'clock
3. 3:00 oclock 8.8:00 oclock
4.4:00 oclock 9.9:00 o'clock
5. 5:00 oclock. 10. 10:00 o'clock

E. new concepts and practicing skills #2

The Human clock game
12 pupils will form a circle like a clock and each pupils will have a number from 1-
12. Teacher will select 2 pupils that will act as an hour and minute hand. They will point to
the numbers in the clock as what time will the teachers tell. All remaining pupils can
perform the said activity.

F. Developing Mastery
Group Activities
The class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be given 5 improvised analog clock
posted in the board. The first group who can tell and write the time correctly will be the
winner.

G. Making generalization and abstractions about the lesson

Ask: How do we tell and write time by hour, half-hour and quarter- hour using
analog clock?
Remember that the smaller arrow is the hour hand and the long arrow is the minute
hand.

We have 60 minutes in 1 hour

H. Finding practical application of concepts and skills in daily living

(Teacher will ask: Do you think it is important to have a daily routine)

Possible answers: self-discipline in managing time and to live healthy

Instructions: Tell and

write the time by hour, hour
and quarter-hour using
analog clock
J. Additional activities for application or remediation
Draw a clock for the time given below
1. 6:45
2. 3:30
3. 12:00
