Future Tsuruchi Ichiro, daimyo of the Tsuruchi. The Tsuruchi family took the Ashinagabachi

Mirumoto Taki.
The background I'll post is the one he has in Clan War. HIs background in Time of the Void
describe him before the War, and his story is told in Secrets of the Shadowlands for what
happened after Oblivion Gate. First stats are during the Clan War, second after Oblivion Gate.
As the initial conflicts rose to battles, and battles rose to war, Taki led units of Dragon troops into
the fray in service of his leaders. As a master of the Mirumoto bushi art of Niten, the Way of Two
Swords, great things were excepted of Taki. Though he lacked combat experience and self-
confidence when first sent to battle, his easy style of leadership and natural instinct on the
battlefield earned him a reputation with the troops of his clan.
In addition, the experience of battle opened his eyes to many of the details presented by his early
sensei as to the nature of war. In a recent discussion with a former sensei, he was overhead to say
"The only way for the seeds of certain truths to grow is to bathe them in blood." As a former
instructor, there have been numerous times that Taki has faced former students in battle. Though
dark thoughts disturb his dreams, and the shadows of regret haunt his eyes, he does his duty and
looks forward to a day when peace allows him to return to the dojo, where he can instruct his
students rather than kill them.

immediatly transport a single creature within 10' of one its portal to within 10' of the other portal.
Teleported creatures with a shadowland taint rank of 0 must make a willpower TN 15 roll or
suffer 1k1 of damage), warp flesh (as a complex, can lash out a tendril of pure energy. It is
considered a magical attack, with an attack roll of 3k3 that deals 3k3 damage).

Shinjo Goshi
Of his generation, Goshi is the most widely traveled young Unicorn within the clan. He's spent a
year training with the Crab, another with the Crane, a year with the Dragon, and finally a year
with the Lion clan. Some of the clans accepted his presence with ease, even seeing to enjoy his
company, while others (particularly the Lion) seemed suspicious or even hostile.
While serving with each clan, he trained with whatever mounted forces were available and,
without exception, earned the respect of the cavalry troops. Even most of the leaders appreciated
his ability, if not his family and clan.
Though he has permanently returned to his clan after his many years away, he maintains many
friendship within the mounted troops of other clans. Given the right circumnstances, he wouldn't
hesitate to aid them in their duty, or to to ask them to aid him in his. (This is his Clan war
background. What happens after that can be found in Time of the Void).

Courage : this 4k3 katana grants the effect of the Mantis tattoo. (Courage was never described,
just listed as one Nyoko's sword when Miyoki recovered it, as per Time of the Void).
Bitter : this katana has a VD of 5k5, but the number of rolled dice is reduced by half the
opponent's honor rank (rounded down) and the number of kept dice is reduced by half the
opponent's honor rank (rounded up). As such, against an opponent with an honor rank of 10, the
katana deals 0k0 damage (it inflicts 1 wound, that all), against an opponent with an honor rank of
0 it deals 5k5 damage. Against an opponent with an honor rank of 5, it deals 3k2. It ignores
bearer's honor rank points of reduction. It also give the bearer the compulsion disadvantage (4
points, challenge to a duel or attack anyone he meets with an honor rank of 0. The perceived
honor advantage protects against this effect as long as the bearer doesn't know the true nature of
his opponent). If the bearer's honor rank drop to 0, he gain the compulsion disadvantage (4
points, kill himself with Bitter within 3 days, must be rolled after every time he sleeps) until his
honor rank rise to 1+. Bitter can be found in the 1st edition corebook.
Honorable : this wakizashi as a VD of half the bearer's honor rank (rounded down) rolled dice
and half the bearer's honor rank (rounded up) kept dice. If the bearer has an honor rank of 10, this
wakizashi is 5k5, if he has an honor rank of 0 its 0k0 (it deals one wound). With an honor rank of
5, it deals 3k2. The higher the honor rank of the bearer, the shiner the sword is. Honorable can be
found in the 1st edition corebook.
Hunger : this shiny no-daichi seems to be dripping blood. This cursed sword has a VD of 4k4,
and grants the cursed by the realm : Toshigoku (instead of attacking the wounded party, the
bearer rush into the middle of the battle) and overconfident disadvantages. It ignores 5 points of
reduction. Hunger can be found in Way of the Dragon
The ancestral Mirumoto wakizashi : this wakizashi has a vd of 2k2, and grant a reduction rank
equal to the rank in a Mirumoto bushi school of the bearer. The ancestral wakizashi is described
in way of the dragon and was revealed as the 5th sword on his card in pearl edition

Pure Shadow samourai
Sometimes, a shadow samourai can pass through Jigoku and Toshigoku without being tainted or
cursed. Shadow samourai are rare, and Pure Shadow samourai are 1% of those. A pure shadow
samourai have ring of 4 at least, all skills at 5 at least, no shadowland taint, no shadowland
powers, an honor rank of 6,5+, usually a school rank of 4, trade the following advantages and
disadvantages : dark paragon (strength), touched by the realm (Toshigoku), consumed (strength),
compulsion (honor), cursed by the realm (Toshigoku) for the following advantages /
disadvantages : clear thinker, paragon (compassion), prodigy, touch of the spirit realms (yomi),
compulsion (pray in every shrine, 4 points), idealistic.

second child of a lesser Isawa family, Osugi excepted to become a scribe or attend the Isawa
Library. While still a child, she spent a few years in service to a scribe, catalopging spells and
arcane materials for the Elemental Council. One day, while bringing scrolls to Isawa Kaede, she
dropped a scroll and it unrolled. She stopped to pick it up and Kaede bowed to help. She heard
Osugi whispering portions of the scroll's magical spell and inquired if she were training to be a
shugenja. Osugi told Kaede she had never had training ... her recital of the spell just "seemed
right".
Kaede immediatly entered Osugi into the Isawa school, but Osugi had a strange quirk - she could
learn almost any spell instantly, but had a difficult time keeping one spell in her mind when
learning another. Still, with experience may come greater capacity, and great things are excepted

Kenshin's helm
The cursed helm of Miya Kenshin provides different effects depending of the era :
- original curse : the bearer gain the disadvantages consumed (control) and Lord Moon's
curse (3 points), with time the curse increase and the points value of Lord Moon's curse
increase to 5 and then 7. The disadvantage Lord Moon's curse work differently : every half
day with the helm close to them, the bearer must make a roll (and gain the additionnal void
point) or starts to actually fail his rolls regarding his most important mission : for example
a diplomat sent to find a peacefull solution will fail all his attempts to make peace.
- after being corrupted by the Black Scroll : in addition to the original curse, the bearer
now gain the disadvantage cursed by the realm (Jigoku) and rolls for taint everyday against
a TN 15 or gain one shadowland point. The bearer can now use the Daigotsu bushi rank 1
technique (and maybe later additionnal ranks). If somewhere where maho is strong, the
curse is passed down to the bearer's followers (as long as they remain close) who start
rolling for taint like the bearer, gain the effect of the original curse with compulsion (obey
the bearer's orders, 4 points) instead of consumed (control).
- after Fu-leng's defeat : same as before but now the bearer gain 3 shadowland points per
failed taint roll and gain twice the normal number of shadowland powers per taint rank.
Destroying the helm requires some powerful magic, like a Black scroll. All the taint the
helm gave and the curse are removed. Killing the bearer free his followers of the curse, but
do not remove the taint.
At the time of the scenario, Satoshi have a taint rank of 3,5 and the shadowlands powers flight of
darkness and above the elements.
