Activity 6
Evaluating the Outcomes of the Teaching and Learning Processes

My Aims/Purposes

At the end of the activity, I should be able to:

a. create an assessment with corresponding table of

specifications; b. collect and interpret evidences of learning of my
students; and c. conduct item analysis.

My Responsibilities

Assessment is an integral part of the teaching and learning process. It allows

the teachers to assess their teaching strategy and inform themselves if there are
adjustments needed to be done to ensure effective learning. It is also used to
evaluate the performance of our students in our class and inform them about the
effectiveness of their learning strategy. The result of assessment could serve as a
motivation to them to exert more effort and to become better with every class that
they are going to take,

As a teacher intern, I should:

a. prepare a table of specifications (TOS) for a certain coverage of topics that

I discussed;
b. make an exam or long quiz based on the TOS;
c. construct various types of questions with varying level of
questions; d. conduct examination or long quiz to the class; and e.
make an item analysis and interpret the results.

My Observations (Reflections and Insights)

1. Based on your experience, give three (3) importance of the preparation of table
of specifications before constructing an exam / long quiz.
Table of specifications (TOS) serves as the foundation of every examination
or quizzes to be administer by the teacher. First, it is important because this shows
the alignment of every objectives of the lesson that will be the path on how
students answer the item questions based from the level of their knowledge. Next,
it is important because this serves as the suitability of every domain of learning that
was aligned on learning objectives. Lastly, it measures all the domain of learning
on their respective level of difficulty considering the learning objectives of the topic.
Furthermore, through the table of specifications, it follow certain standard that will
help the construction of exams or long quiz to have quality and efficient test of
leaning.

2. In constructing test questions, what are the different factors that you considered
to ensure that assessment is fair and reliable?
The different factors that you considered to ensure that assessment is fair
and reliable are the accuracy, relevance, and validity of constructing test questions.
Firstly, it should be accurate with proper construction of test questions considering
the proper punctuation and clear format of every part of examination or test. Next is
the relevance of the questions that should be aligned to learning objectives in
domains of learning and it considers the level of learning of every students that
suits their level of knowledge according to the topic. Lastly, the validity of the test
questions that should be checked and criticized by multiple teachers for revision,
approval, and recommendation.

3. During the conduct of the assessment, what are the rules that you imposed to
observe order in your class?
During the conduct of the assessment, the rules that I imposed are as
follows: a) students should prepare only piece of sheet of paper and ballpen, b)
chairs should be one seat apart, c) handouts, take notes, and reviewer should not
be closed, d) erasures are not allowed, e) no cheating, and f) delivering clear
instructions and allotted time. Through these rules in my class, proper handle
during assessment can be possible to have smooth flow of assessment and
students can focus on their examinations or tests.

4. Describe the result of the item analysis.

On the first part of long quiz which is identification, most students got high
scores allotted to its part. On second part which true of false, not all students got
the high scores allotted to its part, in part III which is situational analysis, all
students got the high scores allotted to its , in part IV which is enumeration, many
students got least scores allotted to its part, and in part V which is essay, most
students got high scores allotted to its part.

5. How does the result of the item analysis affects your decision for your future
activities as a teacher?
It affect my decision of my future activities through revising some format of
my long quizzes and examination. Also, to maintain some part that students get all
the items with high scores.

6. Based on the result of the assessment activity, have you achieved the expected
outcomes of your lesson? Defend your answer.
Yes. I achieved the expected outcomes of my lesson. Firstly, I achieved to
maximize the test questions that cope all the topics that I discussed on my students
from the discussion. Next is because I arrange the level of difficulty from average to
difficult in order to have challenging yet meaningful taking of exams that makes
students think critically on every item questions.

learning, assessment is the latter part of process to determine on what the students
have learned on their lesson during discussion that reflect on their knowledge that
they learned in the lesson. Furthermore, assessment also determine the teaching
performance of teachers on delivery of the topic to the students.

8. Aside from conducting quizzes and exams, what are the different assessment
