mistakes and fix them.
2.1 Rationale.
I have spent some time looking up numerous articles on topics ranging from politics
and health to economy, science, and society in order to finish this internship report.
The primary reason I selected this subject for this English translation is that I think
users are particularly interested in food issues, which can help me learn more about
problems with food culture. We also get the opportunity to explore diffirent cultures
and traditions. First of all, by translating this article from English to Vietnamese, I can
quickly hone my comprehension and reading skills and properly implement all the
crucial lessons I learned from Hanoi Open University. For instance, to fully
comprehend and prepare for an internship task that would improve my English skills
and expand my practical knowledge, I had learned some techniques, such as literal
translation, as well as some topics, such as advanced translation and interpreting
studies. Secondly, it has a strong relationship with national traditions and way of life in
addition to aiming to satisfy people's basic needs. Furthermore, the culinary translation
aids in my understanding of various cuisines' cooking techniques.
Another topic that I would choose is beautify especially skin beauty. The main reason I
decided on this topic for this English translation is because I think readers find the
topic of beauty to be very interesting, and it can also help me comprehend how to
maintain healthy, beautiful skin. This article from suckhoedoisong.com could be a
good resource to begin our habits perfectly and even encourage me to work hard when
translating it. By translating this article, I was able to quickly advance my reading and
writing abilities in English and gain more positive experiences to help me start the new
year off right. After finishing my internship task, I could also give my friends my
translated text as a gift so they could pursue their goals without the need for other
translating apps like Google, or I could share it on social media.
4
In conclusion, I want to say how thankful I am for the opportunity to translate two
article that will ultimately be very helpful to me. This year's political and health news
could be a great resource for me to hone my translation abilities and broaden my
experience for a future job.

CHAPTER III: INTERNSHIP REPORT
3.1 Introduction
I'll list some of the important duties and experiences that I learned from and got better at
while completing my first internship assignment and my studies at university. One of the
most crucial subjects I learned at Hanoi Open University to get ready for my future career
is advanced translation. This was particularly true of my senior year. The majority of
subjects give students the opportunity to learn about almost every aspect of their lives,
such as culture and history, and they also give them the chance to use English to gain
experience in specialized fields that will help them integrate and apply to international
companies in the future. Being aware that being a translator or interpreter is one of the
well-paid jobs in Vietnam, listening to professor lectures, and completing a substantial
quantity of homework could be very beneficial for me. In order to improve my translation
abilities, I also set a goal to read foreign articles every day.
In order to effectively complete this assignment and demonstrate my nearly four years
of study at Hanoi Open University, I will work even harder in the future. Additionally,
I will make the most of my skills to seize numerous chances to satisfy my needs and, in
the near future, submit applications to a number of respectable businesses as an
efficient and well-organized student.
21
3.2. Practical experiences
To complete the internship report, I have eight weeks altogether. I spent the majority of
my first week of doing an internship assignment deciding what subjects I wanted to
investigate and pushing myself to translate them thoroughly. Additionally, I read every
document that my internship supervisor shared with me in order to completely
comprehend the assignment and meticulously prepare for all tasks. Finally, I picked
two articles to translate well that deal with politics and mental health.
I began organizing an internship plan and translating the article from English into
Vietnamese over the course of the following few weeks. I've grown accustomed to
reading some English newspapers and other books online to expand my information.
Additionally, I took special care to translate any idioms or colloquialisms that had
anything to do with Vietnamese culture or custom. I then used the knowledge I had
gained from Hanoi Open University to meticulously translate the text. In order to
prevent making mistakes when translating this text, I occasionally looked up words in
English dictionaries like Oxford or Cambridge to learn what they meant and how they
were used. I proceeded to translate the article from Vietnamese into English during the
fifth and sixth weeks of my internship assignment by using some methods and
guidelines I had previously learned from university professors. After that, I had to go
over a few mistakes and make a notation of any problems with the translation.
Additionally, I meticulously filled out my internship diary and asked my internship
supervisor for any additional information or guidance.
I completed translating two texts in the last two weeks, and I carefully proofread my
work before moving on to the subsequent tasks for my internship duties. Following all
informational instructions from my internship supervisor, I then began to compose the
internship report. I incorporated my own experiences and the many lessons I gained
from them into every section of my assignment in order to apply it to the real world.
During my four years of study at the Faculty of English at the Hanoi Open University, I
have greatly improved my comprehension and competence in reading, listening,
writing, and speaking. My ability to speak more naturally and pronounce words
distinctly has increased. Additionally, it requires flexibility to apply translation skills in
numerous contexts. Along with speaking the language, these abilities have really aided
me when writing, following up, and translating word for word.
Through skill development, I've been able to listen and comprehend language more
rapidly. In order to create a high-quality final product, writing translation also greatly
helps me translate articles and produce internship reports. It helps me get used to and
feel comfortable interpreting between languages when I translate materials from
English to Vietnamese and vice versa. I could pick up a new skill and gain a deeper
understanding of the links between the two languages by performing two-way
translations between the two languages.
I also still need to routinely practice and study if I want to improve. Soft skills are
undoubtedly an important talent because they allow us to use them in practice right away,
enabling me to meet future job demands and opening up a wide range of opportunities.

it comes to writing, following up, and doing word-by-word translation for my future job.
My comprehension and proficiency in reading, listening, writing, and speaking have
significantly improved over the course of my four years of education at the Hanoi Open
University's Faculty of English. My speech has become more natural, and I can now
pronounce things clearly. It also calls for adaptability to use language abilities in various
situations. These skills have really aided me in writing, following up, and performing
word-by-word translation for my prospective job in addition to speaking the language.
23
I also still need to routinely practice and study if I want to improve. Soft skills are
undoubtedly an important talent because they allow us to use them in practice right away,
enabling me to meet future job demands and opening up a wide range of opportunities.
I have to deal with a number of issues as I complete my internship task. First off, I find
it challenging to translate some polysemous words because they call for a broad
knowledge base and an understanding of both the articles' background and the writer's
intended message. A word or phrase having multiple interpretations concurrently is
known as polysemy. Because a direct translation might not produce an exact
equivalent, this can be challenging to translate. Take the English word " get", it can
have multiple meaning based on the situation like " To get a bus" or " To get some
food". Because the computer doesn't understand context, machine translations
frequently result in awkward translations.
Machine translations are only useful for conveying the primary concept or overall
meaning. Humans are the ones who create the best translations. Secondly, there are
times when I have to deal with conveying the meaning of an idiom in Vietnamese that
is close to our culture and traditions in Vietnam when translating idioms and proverbs
from the English language into Vietnamese. More specifically, it takes a lot of work to
discover an equivalent for some concepts in one language when it comes to another.
Translation requires linguistic, sociocultural, and pragmatic proficiency in both
languages, as well as knowledge of intercultural distinctions and perspectives. Thirdly,
I often translate word-for-word, which causes the reader to miss the complete context.
Fortunately, I alter my method of translation and employ some useful strategies learned
from my professor to effectively translate this text.
However, there are a few sensible and efficient solutions that can help with the internship
task and translating the text. In order to fully comprehend some polysemous words or
sentences, I first search some English dictionaries like Oxford or BBC to acquire more
academic knowledge about the proper words to use when translating articles. Additionally,
I read some English books and foreign news sources like theguardian news to learn some
fantastic idioms or collocations that take into account some aspects of Vietnamese culture.
To effectively translate, I will take notice of this and broaden my knowledge. Additionally,
with the assistance of instructors who instruct us on a variety of topics related to becoming
a translator or interpreter in the future, I can hone my
24
translation abilities by practicing and learning numerous tasks at the university.
Last but not least, completing the internship assignment could be a good opportunity
for me to identify and address some issues in order to acquire more knowledge and
experience for my future career.
In my final year of study, I had the opportunity to complete the internship papers,
which taught me several lessons and gave me both good and negative experiences:
Second, avoid using word-by-word translation when translating from Vietnamese into
English or vice versa as this method demonstrates that the translator is not thinking
clearly. Instead, use a translation tool. As a result, I can u my personal experiences and
expertise to translate effectively and find employment soon. Third, in addition to
developing practical skills like speaking, listening, writing, and reading at university, I
also acquired some new ones like computer skills, organizational skills, and self-
confidence skills. As a result, I can use these abilities in the real world as a potential
employee in Vietnam.
Last but not least, I have a limited vocabulary in English and struggle to convey the
meaning of terms. But taking notes on every word I recognize while reading newspapers
or books and the lessons I acquire at university help me expand my knowledge.
3.3. Conclusion
My internship assignment gives me the chance to learn new things and develop skills
that will help me in my future employment. I want to work as a skilled English editor,
which means I need to be able to translate from English to Vietnamese and vice versa. I
must effectively develop my writing, reading comprehension, self-organization, and
computer skills in order to pursue my future career. I will do this by practicing,
completing many assignments from my instructors, and completing this internship
assignment. The Vietnamese translation of English texts about mental health has also
taught me a lot of helpful advice for boosting my self-confidence. To be more precise, I
use this text to establish my goal and restart my New Year's resolutions. In addition, I
have gained a thorough understanding of the present political climate in Vietnam and
25
have picked up some new vocabulary related to it. I could readily discuss and share
some disagreements with friends as a result.
There are some benefits to adhering to academic plans and using them in practical
settings. First off, I develop more scholastic and soft skills like presentation and
translation abilities. In addition to enhancing a variety of my knowledge relevant to my
future job, this gives me more confidence when speaking with foreigners. Second, I've
acquired the knowledge necessary to apply for a part-time job teaching kids and obtain
other English certificates like the TOEIC or IELTS. These topics include integrated
theories of the English language and advanced translation. Thirdly, I have a great
opportunity to practice and discuss ideas with teachers and peers so that I can fully
immerse myself in English.
However, there are some long-term issues with educational programs that need to be fixed.
Universities should hire some foreign instructors with at least a bachelor's degree in
education so they can communicate with students and gain more hands-on experience for
their future careers rather than spending too much time teaching theoretical information.
Therefore, this helps them become accustomed to thinking in English and builds their self-
confidence. In order to focus more on their students' future careers and draw in new
students, some topics also need to be updated on a regular basis.
3.4 Recommendation.
I'd like to offer some suggestions based on my real-world experiences from this
internship and my four years of university education.
First, colleges ought to give students more chances to learn in a practical setting and
practice speaking English on a regular basis.
In order to help students better understand their choices and choose their future careers,
colleges should plan more career counseling activities. To gain more information for a
future as an English editor, for instance, I frequently participate in workshops and
translation exercises in class.
Moreover, most students need to arm themselves with fundamental and advanced
knowledge in some specific skills, like translation skills, in order to complete the
internship assignment effectively. And to improve their skills as a translator during an
internship, they should establish some positive habits, such as reading articles from other
26
countries or listening to podcasts.
