II. Focused Learning Competencies (Use Curriculum Guide) Code: M7AGE-Ill-f-1
Illustrates a circle and the terms related to it:: radius, diameter, center, arc, chord, central angle, and
inscribed angle.

III. Focused GAD principle/s to be integrated

All learners should practice equality in dealing with people regardless of gender.

IV. Intended Learning Outcomes

Knowledge Define circle and the terms related to it.

Skills Name the different parts of a circle given an illustration.

Attitude Identify the parts of a circle with speed and accuracy.

Values Improve one’s mathematical ability by actively participating in the teaching-

learning process.

V. Learning A circle is a set of all points on a plane that are of the same distance from a fixed
Content/s point called the center. It is named by its center.
A radius is a line segment joining any point on the circle to the center of the circle.
It measures one half of the diameter.
A chord is a segment whose endpoints are any two points on the circle.
A diameter is a chord which passes through the center of a circle. It is twice the
length of a radius.
A central angle is an angle formed by two radii of a circle with its vertex at the
center of the circle. Its measure is equal to its intercepted arc.
An arc is a part or a portion of a circle. If it is half a circle, it is called a semicircle. If
it is less than half a circle it is called a minor arc. If it is more than half a circle, it is
called a major arc.
An inscribed angle is an angle whose vertex is on the circle and each of whose
sides are chords of the circle.

1. Engage ROUTINE

1. Prayer
2. Attendance and physical arrangement
3. give the evaluation from yesterday
5 minutes

2. Explore Bring me

You will bring the object that I will ask from you and anyone from the group who
10 minutes can bring the exact object to me each group member will get 5 points each. You
will be given a seconds to bring the particular object to bring
Object to bring ;
1. button
2. coin
3.round strips of paper
4. circular bracelet
5. round strips of paper
6. circular plate
7. cover of the circular food container
8. water bottle cup

The winner is …okay let’s give ourselves a clap “ Ang Galing Clap”
Ask:

1. From the activity, we have done, what do you think is our topic today?

2. Ask the students to define circle.

DISCUSSION PROPER
A circle is a set of all points on a plane that are of the same distance from a fixed
point called the center. It is named by its center.
3. Explain
20 minutes

There is a point in the center the circle; this point is called the center, or
the central point.

A radius is a line segment joining any point on the circle to the center of the circle.
It measures one-half of the diameter.

If we have two radius

A chord is a segment whose endpoints are any two points on the circle.

A diameter is a chord, which passes through the center of a circle. It is twice the
length of a radius.
An arc is a part or a portion of a circle. If it is half a circle, it is called a semicircle. If
it is less than half a circle it is called a minor arc. If it is more than half a circle, it is
called a major arc.

A central angle is an angle formed by two radii of a circle with its vertex at the
center of the circle. Its measure is equal to its intercepted arc.
An inscribed angle is an angle whose vertex is on the circle and each of whose
sides are chords of the circle.
4. Elaborate let’s try!!!

10 minutes

5. Evaluate The teacher will call certain students randomly.

1. What is a circle?
Answer: is a set of all points on a plane that are of the same distance from a fixed
point called the center.
5 minutes 2.How to distinguish chord from diameter, diameter from radius?
Answer: a chord is segment whose endpoints are any two points on the circle
while the diameter passes through the center of a circle
3. What is the relationship between central angle and intercepted arc?
Answer may vary
4. What are the difference between minor arc, semicircle and major arc?
Answer may vary
