INTRODUCTION
To illuminate a lecture hall measuring 30m x 20m using 40 tube light fittings (each 20 watts),
supplied by single-phase 230V, 50Hz AC power from the center of one of the 30m long walls:

 Total Power Consumption: 40 tube lights x 20 watts = 800 watts.

 Total Luminous Flux: Assuming each tube light produces around 2000 lumens, total flux
= 40 lights x 2000 lumens/light = 80,000 lumens.
 Area of Lecture Hall: 30m x 20m = 600 square meters.
 Illuminance Calculation: Illuminance (lux) = Total Luminous Flux / Area = 80,000
lumens / 600 m² = 133.33 lux.

Therefore, the lecture hall would have an approximate illumination level of 133.33 lux.

CALCULATIONS
1. Total Lighting Load ( 40 Tube ) : 40 x 20W = 800 W
2. Total Power Load : 1 x 2000W = 2000 W
3. Total Connected Load = Total Lighting Load + Total Power Load
= 800 + 2000
= 2800 W
4. Rating of Main Fuse :

I = (Total Connected Load ) / 230 V

= 2800W / 230V

= 12.17 A
= 13 A ( Approx. )

Therefore, We Select the Rating of Main Fuse is 30 A

5. Total Lighting Sub-circuit = ( Total Lighting Load ) / 160 W

= 800 / 160 W
= 5

6. Total Power Sub-circuit = ( Total Power Load ) / 2000 W

= 2000 / 2000 W
= 1
