Не встигла компанія вивести на ринок свій новий продукт, як
збанкрутувала.
2. No sooner did she realize that she had left the purse at the store than the shop
assistant brought it to her. Не встигла вона усвідомити, що залишила
гаманець у магазині, як продавець приніс його їй.
3. No sooner had Mary closed one door than she heard the knocking one more
time. Не встигла Мері зачинити одні двері, як почула стукіт ще раз.
4. Hardly had the car approached the house when the person wearing spectacles
left the entrance of the house. Не встигла машина під'їхати до будинку, як з
під'їзду будинку вийшла людина в окулярах.
5. Hardly had the well-known politician entered into the private room when two
beautiful girls left from there. Не встиг відомий політик зайти в приватну
кімнату, як звідти вийшли дві красиві дівчини.
6. Hardly had I put on a hat when the frisky wind blew it off my head. Не встиг
я надіти капелюха, як грайливий вітер зірвав його з голови.
7. No sooner had she read the letter than she started screaming. Не встигла
вона прочитати листа, як почала кричати.
8. Scarcely had I solved one problem when another popped up. Не встиг я
вирішити одну проблему, як з'явилася інша.
9. Hardly had I finished cleaning up the mess when/before my son dropped cake
on the floor. Не встиг я закінчити прибирати за собою, як мій син впустив
торт на підлогу.
10. Hardly had I fallen asleep when the neighbour's dog started barking. Не
встиг я заснути, як сусідський пес почав гавкати.
11. Hardly had I got home from work when my boss called me and asked me to
go back to the office. Не встиг я повернутися з роботи, як мені
зателефонував бос і попросив повернутися в офіс.
12. Scarcely had she drunk the magic liquid when she began to see everything
in strange and vivid colours. Не встигла вона випити чарівну рідину, як
почала бачити все в дивних і яскравих кольорах.
13. Hardly had a moment passed when we heard the explosion. Не минуло й
хвилини, як ми почули вибух.
14. No sooner had the balloon risen in the air than it crashed back to earth. Не
встигла кулька піднятися в повітря, як вона з гучно впала на землю.
15. Hardly had they reached Edinburgh when they were ordered to return to
London. Не встигли вони долетіти до Единбурга, як їм наказали
повертатися до Лондона.
16. No sooner had Miriam gone than Harry suddenly returned looking more
cheerful than one might have expected. Не встигла Міріам піти, як Гаррі
несподівано повернувся, виглядаючи більш веселим, ніж можна було
очікувати.

finished reading the book when she fell asleep.
2. Не встигли злочинці вибігти з банку, як їх відразу заарештувала поліція.
No sooner had the criminals run out the bank than the police arrested them.
3. Тільки-но я налила собі чаю, як задзвонив мій телефон. No sooner had I
poured myself some tea than my phone rang.
4. Тільки-но я ліг спати, як із вулиці залунали крики. No sooner had I gone
to bed than I heard screams from the outside.
5. Не встигла вона дочитати листа, як почала плакати. Scarcely had she
finished reading the letter when she started crying.
6. Як тільки я закрила двері, хтось знову постукав. Hardly had I closed the
door when someone knocked again.
7. Не встигли вони вийти з будинку, як їх почали фотографувати
журналісти. No sooner had they left the house than the journalists started
taking pictures of them.
8. Тільки-но учні дочитали текст, як пролунав дзвоник. Hardly had the
students finished reading the text when the bell rang.
9. Як тільки він її побачив, одразу впізнав. Hardly had he seen her when he
recognized her immediately.
10. Як тільки крадій побачив поліцейського, він відразу почав від нього
тікати. No sooner had the thief seen the police officer than he started running
away from him.
11. Як тільки пролунав дзвоник, студенти рушили з аудиторії. No sooner
had the bell rung than the students left the classroom.
