Lesson Plan (GROUP 2)

Target Learners: Senior High School Students


Skill Focus: Speaking

I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:


1. Identify the different types of speech – cognitive
2. Demonstrate the correct delivery of message through a creative group performance –
psychomotor
3. Express their understanding on the type of speeches based from the given group
activity – affective
II. Subject Matter: Types of Speech (Impromptu, Manuscript, Memorized, & Extemporaneous)
Materials: Laptop, DLP, teacher provided printed speech script examples

III. Procedure:

 Students are given motivational questions.


 Introduce to the students the lesson through video presentation where each type of
speech is being applied.
 After the discussion and video presentation, divide the students into 4 groups and make
certain that they will use skit-script.
 Provide follow-up questions related to the topic/lesson.
 Each group will be given a speech script drawn from several types of speeches and ask
to identify the type of speech being utilized in the script. Students must submit their
answers to the class as a whole.
 Provided answers, are then validated by the teacher.
Assessment:
Students will work in groups to plan and rehearse the speech script being given to them.
They are given a time allotment of 15 minutes to practice and prepare for their
presentation. The importance of this task is that they must identify the type of speech being
assigned to them, explain their own understanding of the speech, as well as apply the
elements present in that specific type of speech. In their performance, the classification of
speech must be clearly expressed and understood based on their facial expressions and
voice quality. Below is the rubrics that the teacher will use to rate the presentations of each
group.

Assignment:
Students are tasked to make their own presidential speech. In their speech, they must have
at least 1 social issue that they would like to address and recommend possible solutions
with regards to it. Their speech must be at least 1-3 minutes and they would present it upon
the next meeting. They will be graded based on the following rubrics.
