Re: FBE Copacker Manual

You may no doubt have noticed that Roy Brown during the recent Cascade exercise
mentioned Copacker Auditing as an area of weakness requiring attention over the next
months/years. His observation was based on remarks made by Corporate Audit in their
overall comments on B-Group Audit performance. During last year, a draft “Copacker
Manual” was issued by SEAC. This draft has now been slightly amended – incorporating
comments made by our QA community – and was consequently approved by the FBE QA
Committee in its February ’99 meeting as the standard FBE document now to be used by
FBE companies as from 1st May 1999 when auditing copackers (you will note the manual
requires visits every 2 years: e.g. by 1st May 2001 all copackers should have been covered
according to the new manual).

The manual is being forwarded as a hard copy – more copies are available from Irene
Tranoris at SEAC – but is also available from the SHEACO Lotus Notes database (e.g.
you can print an uncontrolled version locally).

Please ensure your QA/copacking departments are informed timely. I have no doubt the
manual will contribute greatly to increased focus on Copacker Auditing and the
improvements in copacker quality reliability we are looking for.
