Competitors of Coca Cola

1. PepsiCo: - Without a doubt one of the strongest coca cola competitors is Pepsi, known for its
flagship brand, Pepsi and other brands like 7UP, Slice, Mountain Dew etc. The cola war between
Coca-Cola and Pepsi have been a long-standing rivalry in the carbonated soft drink market. One of the
reasons these brands fight tooth and nail is because both of them are very strong in their distribution
and have excellent marketing and sales policies. As a result, you will find that the maximum market
share is of these 2 brands – be it any country.

2. Parle Argo: - Parle Argo is an Indian beverage company known for brands like Frooti, Appy, and
Bailley. Parle focuses more on fruit based and non-carbonated beverage. They compete in the non-
carbonated beverage segment and have a significant market presence in India.

3. Dabur: - Dabur offers a range of beverages, primary focuses on natural and ayurvedic ingredients.
Dabur are known for its fruit juices and natural drinks like Real Fruit Juices, which compete with
Coca-Cola's Minute Maid.

4. Monster Beverage Corporation: Known for its energy drinks like Monster Energy, this company
competes in the energy drink category against Coca-Cola's energy drink brands, such as Coca-Cola
Energy and Charger.

5. Red Bull: - Red Bull gives you wings, quite literally!! It is owned by an Australian company Red
Bull GmbH. Red Bull is one of the strongest growing energy drink/sports drinks and is amongst the
strongest direct coca cola competitors. Same like Monster Beverage Corporation, they are competing
in the energy drink category against Coca-Cola Energy and Charger.

6. Bisleri: - Bisleri is primarily known for its bottled mineral water. They provide a range of packaged
drinking water products, including natural spring water and flavored water. Bisleri is competing with
Coca-Cola mineral water brand Kinley. Bisleri also ventured into the carbonated beverage market
with brands like Bisleri Pop and Uzra.

7. Campa Cola: - Campa Cola was once a popular soft drink brand in India but it has lost much of its
market share now. But In August 2022 Campa Cola was acquired by Reliance Industries. Now when
they want to re-capture the market, they are now providing the drink in comparatively lower price and
it might give tough competition to Coca-Cola.
Activities In the Company on the Day of the Visit

At the beginning of the day, we were taken to a conference room. There, the HR head of Coca Cola
told us about the Coca Cola company through a beautiful PPT. From the history of Coca Cola to
where its formula is and how it came to India, about the Coca Cola branch in West Bengal. How each
branch has different area like Taratala branch area till Howrah. How Coca Cola bottles are made.
Order and Distribution. Distributors have their own territories and a distributor in one territory cannot
supply to another territory.

After that we were taken for a factory visit. But before that we were given visitor card and security
instructions. On that day sprite and maaza were being manufactured and packaged in the factory.
After that we were shown all the machines one by one. First, we were taken to the bottling machine
on Sprite's floor. There we saw that a small test tube first passed through the heating machine and
then the blowing machine and took the form of a bottle. After that it was cleaned in bottle cleaning
machine. After cleaning the bottles, they are taken to the filling machine where the sprite is filled.
Then after levelling and sealing it is stored in the warehouse and from there it is sent by vehicle for
distribution.

After sprite we are shown the same process for maazaa and brought back to the conference room. Our
factory visit ended by clearing our doubts through Q & A session in the conference room.

Analysis About Working Process & HR Function of the Company

We must learn a lot of things as MBA students. Success is achieved via learning. And until we have to
put the knowledge into practice, learning won't happen by reading the theories. Remember that the
BIBS at our college led us on a tour of an industrial facility.
The HR there, Indranil Chakravorty, gave us a warm welcome. The conference room was already in
motion when we arrived. And then he began explaining how things work by displaying a PowerPoint
presentation.
I gained plenty of facts from the sessions, such as:

1. Manufacturing Process:

Coca-Cola is made by a multi-step process that includes blending the ingredients, bottling, packaging,
and distribution. Here is a general description of the procedure.

2. Water Filtration:

The main component of Coca-Cola manufacture is water, and the quality of the water directly affects
the flavor and consistency of the beverage. The process of filtering water involves removing particles,
pollutants, and impurities from the water supply. To remove bigger particles, common processes
include sedimentation, coagulation, and flocculation, followed by several filtration methods.

3. Carbon Filtration:

A specialized method used to further cleanse water is carbon filtration. It uses activated carbon,
which is highly effective in adsorbing pollutants and has a large surface area. Water is filtered
through activated carbon filters, which remove organic compounds, chlorine, and other impurities
that could impact Coca-Cola's flavor and quality. Cleaner, odorless, and better-tasting water is
produced by this procedure.

4. Ingredient Mixing:

Mixing the ingredients that go into making Coca-Cola is the first step in the process. This normally
includes combining purified water, natural flavors, and caffeine with high-fructose corn syrup,
caramel color, and phosphoric acid. In huge tanks, the ingredients are blended. using a specific recipe
that has been closely guarded by the business for more than a century. Over the years, the recipe has
undergone numerous updates and changes, but the essential components and flavor of the beverage
have not altered.
5. Syrup Preparation:

After the components are blended, syrup is added to make a concentrated concoction. The syrup is
then moved to the facilities of the bottling facility after being stored in tanks. Since the final flavor of
the product depends on the syrup's ability to meet high quality standards, the preparation procedure is
closely watched.

6. Bottling:

The bottles will now be filled with the syrup mixture in the following step of the procedure. A high-
speed bottling line that automatically fills, caps and labels the bottles is often used to do this. The
bottles are then packaged for distribution after a quality check. In order to ensure that the product is of
the greatest quality, the bottling process is one of the most important phases in the production of
Coca-Cola.

7. Quality Assurance:

The importance of quality assurance in the food and beverage industry can be taught to students by
observing the quality control procedures used by such businesses.

8. Packaging:

The bottles are then boxed and ready for transport. Boxes may need to be stacked into pallets, pallets
may need to be wrapped for protection during transit, and pallets may need to be loaded into trucks
for distribution. To guarantee that the product is safeguarded during shipping and that it reaches the
consumer in the best condition possible, the packing process is meticulously controlled.

9. Distribution:

The Coca-Cola goods are then transported to the retail stores, vending machines, and other places
where they will be sold. The business has an extensive distribution network...
