I. Introduction

“Reading furnishes the mind only with materials of knowledge; it is thinking that
makes what we read ours.” ― John Locke

It is a man’s ability to read that sets him up to a wonderful world he has

yet to discover. For millennia, reading has been a catalyst for the growth of
civilizations. However, in the modernity of times, various sources of
entertainments have been prevalent with the uprising of technology. With video
games and social media dominating the mind of teens, reading is no longer as
rampant as it used to be. Slowly, falling astray, the critical thinking and creativity
of teenagers have been replaced by unnecessary dopamine rushes that is only
harmful in the long run.

Based on the aforesaid circumstances mentioned, the founders of this

project has noticed the illiteracy of most learners they have encountered. As a
response, a proposal to create a point of sales website that advertises books that
fit into the modern ways and promoted in a way that catches the attention of
teenagers has been conducted, as a measure to bring back books in the
entertainment spotlight and help the cognitive abilities of learners.

II. Statement of Purpose

The concept proposed intends to effectively advertise books and literary

works among teenagers to help improve their cognitive abilities, literacy, critical
thinking, and overall mental wellbeing.

III. Objectives

The objectives of this concept proposal are the following:

1. To create a point of sales website that features books and literary

works.
2. To be able to advertise books and literary works effectively among
teenagers.
3. To be able to serve as a catalyst for the improvement of teenager’s
cognitive abilities.

The project proposed is a point of sales website that advertises books and
literary works in the most effective way possible among teenagers. To achieve this, the
researchers leaned towards an interactive or dynamic webpage that is engaging and
features several book-related events.

The POS website will be called the “Academy of Time” for the reason that
through books, you are able to travel from the past, present, and the possible futures
thanks to the timeless pieces of literature made from authors in different periods. This
alone, is an evoking and eye-catching title that will hook teenagers into seeking out the
website.

The contents of the website include events such as, “Book of the Month” that will
feature a book with the highest sales and interactions. In furtherance, there will be a
feature that will allow readers to discuss about their favorite books with other people
making it a semi-social media website.

There will be more options for, “Authors of the Month”, “Top Rated”, “Top
Selling”, and other sorts of features that will allow users to explore more books in a
fashionable and entertaining way.

IV. Methodology

The methodology of this research is using the waterfall-model to create the

aforementioned point of sales website. To elaborate, the process will be divided into 7
sub-processes that will serve as the flow of this software development:

1. Project Planning – the main plan on how the concept will be conducted,
including the processes, objectives, and methodologies.
2. Requirements – the identification on what kind of information, tools, and
features are needed to achieve this project.
3. Analysis – the main analysis of the detailed plan for the project and how it will
be executed, including its features and other software details.
4. Design – the backbone of this project that includes the visuals, convenience,
and overall aesthetic of the webpage.
5. Coding – the process of finally putting the prototype into an actual point of
sales website.
6. Testing – testing the functionality of the website in cases of bugs and
dysfunctions and fixing it immediately.
7. Deployment – the release of the point of sales website after several
refinements.

VI. Conclusion

In summary, this project was proposed intended to aid the arising problem of
illiteracy among teenagers due to prevalent harmful sources of entertainment through
creating a point of sales website focused on effectively advertising books and literary
works in a fashionable and modern way.
To read is to explore a new world full of wonders waiting for you. The ultimate
purpose of this project is to help readers unlock their fullest potential into becoming a
literate and critical thinker, while at the same time, being able to appreciate reading.
