The Heart or The Brain?

“We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we
are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And
medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain
life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”

I, a man of logic, would choose a life paved by the heart. Although, it is universally
acknowledged that man likes to act based on logic and rationality, it is by the heart
that we have come this far. While the world is a systematic framework of, perhaps,
formulas and logical reasoning for us to function ideally, the beauty of it all does not
come from the mind but the soul. We, as humans, are naturally driven to create art-
just as how the ancient Greek and Roman manuscripts of humanities vanished but
rebirthed by poets to start Renaissance. No matter how long it takes, or what
catastrophe shall find its way to destroy all our creations, we always find our way back
to our roots. One thing I am confident that is innate to us all is the ability to follow our
hearts and express our philosophies, ideals, and desires as men. For me, no matter
the attempt to go down the road of logic, we always find our way back to what our
heart truly wants.
