Vegetable Cultivation

The project is spearhead by the student of University of Cebu Banilad in collaboration
with the Sangguniang Kabataan and the residents of Barangay Apas.

III. Objectives of the Project


The project aims to introduce hydroponic farming techniques, promote sustainable
vegetable cultivation, enhance food security, and empower residents with modern agricultural
skills in Barangay Apas.

V. Project Description
A. Background of the Project
Barangay Apas faces challenges in traditional farming due to limited land
availability and soil quality. Hydroponics offers a solution by enabling vegetable
cultivation without the need for soil, making it suitable for urban environments.

B. Justification of the Project


Hydroponics maximizes space utilization, conserve water, and minimizes the
need for pesticides, making it an ideal alternative to conventional farming in Barangay
Apas. Additionally, it promotes self-sufficiency and resilience against climate change-
related challenges.

C. Benefits Derived from the Project


The project provides increased access to fresh vegetables, reduces environmental
impact, creates economic opportunities through surplus sales, and offer educational
benefits, particularly for youth, in Barangay Apas.

D. Coverage
The project will cover various aspects of hydroponic vegetable cultivation,
including setup, maintenance, and harvesting, targeting multiple households and
community spaces within Barangay Apas.
