A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English 10

I. Objectives

At the end of a 60-minute lesson, 75% of the students should achieve the
following 80% level of success.
A. identify the parts of a basic research;
B. appreciate the importance of knowing the basic parts of research through an
activity; and
C. write understanding about the parts of a basic research.

III. Activity Sequence

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer
The teacher will ask one representative to lead the prayer in the class.

2. Checking of Attendance
The teacher will ask the class secretary to check if all his/her classmates are
present.

3. Review
The teacher will ask the students to pick the pieces of paper under their chairs
and throw it to the trash bin. After that the teacher will have a review of what
has been tackled in the last discussion.
B. Lesson Proper

1. Motivation
The teacher will start the lesson with an activity called 'Guess Me.' The
students will be divided into five groups. Each group should have one whole pad and
a pen, which will be used for answering. The task for each group is to arrange the
jumbled letters displayed on the screen. When the teacher announces 'answers up,'
students must raise their answers, whether they have completed them or not. The
group that achieves the highest score will be declared the winner.

After the activity, the teacher will ask the students about their observations
about the game. When the students have responded, the teacher will process their
answers by providing additional input about the activity.

2. Presentation of the Lesson


The teacher will tell the students that the jumbled letters presented to them
are Parts of a Basic Research will be the main focus of the discussion.

3. Development of the Lesson/ Discussion


To make the discussion interactive, the teacher will provide a small ball to be
used during discussion. When the teacher gives the ball to someone, that student
will recite. Then, that student will choose who he/she wants to pass the ball to the
next.

The teacher will ask these following questions in the entire discussion:

 What comes to your mind when you hear the term “research”?
 What do you think is the purpose of research?
 Have you ever seen a title page? What are the things included there?
 What do we mean when we say abstract?
 How about an introduction? What are your thoughts about it?
 What is the purpose of review of related literature
 What is the importance of using methods in research?
 What will you do in order to present accurate results?
 What are the things we need to consider in doing discussion in the
context of research?
 Is it important to use references in studies?
 How tables and figures help the readers to understand what they are
reading?
 Is there a need to provide additional information in research?

After each question, the teacher will present the definition with regards to the
parts of a basic research. When the discussion has finished the teacher will ask at
least 5 students to give their understanding about the topic. After that, the teacher
will provide additional input about the basic parts of a research.

4. Enrichment
To evaluate the students' understanding of the topic discussed, the teacher
will conduct an activity called "Speak Your Mind." The students will use their
respective groupings a while ago for this activity. Each group will be given 2 parts of
a basic research and they need to give their understanding about the given terms.
The students will be given 3 minutes to prepare and 2 minutes to share their
collected answers in front of the class.

5. Generalization
To evaluate student comprehension, the teacher will assign a follow-up
activity using previous groupings. Each group must share the importance of the
given terms assigned to them in the context of research. They will write it on clean
one whole sheet of paper. They will be given 3 minutes to prepare and 2 minutes to
present their shared answers in front of the class.
