1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
 According to technical specifications, RUBIC MINI UNA control units must not be used if damaged or faulty.
 Electrical and communication connections should be performed in compliance with local codes and standards applicable
in the country of installation.
 Make sure the unit is disconnected from the mains power supply before performing any work on the electrical system.
 NOTE: There may be a number of independent supply zones for primary lighting.
 Before commissioning, the monitoring system should be thoroughly checked and tested by qualified personnel.

1.2. NOTES ON THE OPERATION OF THE EMERGENCY LIGHTING SYSTEM

RUBIC MINI UNA is a part of a fire protection system and a vital component enhancing the safety of your building or
facility. Any modification of the system made by unauthorized or unqualified personnel may cause malfunctioning
or failures of primary and/or emergency lighting and may lead to:

 Life- or health-threatening incidents,


 Damage of the facility, building or equipment,
 Faults and downtime of the production line.

When the system has been assembled, installed, connected and commissioned, the following procedures must be observed to
ensure its correct and safe operation:
 System performance must be monitored and all events recorded (operation log book, event log),
 Safety signs luminance levels in emergency and blackout situations should be measured according to PN-EN 50172,
 The system must be inspected as specified in applicable laws and internal regulations.

The person responsible for the arrangement and performance of the procedures mentioned above is the manager of the
facility/building or their duly authorized representative. The following information should be updated and available at all times:
 Event log acc. to PN-EN 50172
 Type and scope of work performed on the system
 Reports of any completed work
 Relevant work permits and identification of:
• Personnel responsible for specific work/tasks
• Personnel responsible for supervision of the work
 Functional reports (on failures or functional tests)

 Organizational aspects of the operation of the emergency lighting system For example:
• Reporting of test start and end times and its duration
• Safety management during the test: Extra lighting, method of power disconnection, warning signals)
• HSE equipment of the personnel responsible for the performance of work.

Contact AWEX or our authorized distributor if you have any questions regarding modification of the emergency
lighting system and/or its firmware.

The required typology for the communication network is a line. Any defects or shortcomings in the layout of the
communication network will disturb or even prevent correct performance of a RUBIC MINI UNA system.

Using a ring topology is prohibited and may result in a system damage. The maximum length of a
communication network is 1200 m when the recommended cable is used (see Section 4).

1.3. COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARDS AND DIRECTIVES

RUBIC UNA Monitoring System complies with the following European standards and directives:

− Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95/EC


− Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC) 2004/108/EC
− Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (ROHS) 2002/95/EC
− Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) 2002/96/EC.

2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The RUBIC UNA is the latest and the most advanced monitoring system designed to control independent luminaires of
emergency and escape route lighting systems. It is dedicated to smal-to-medium facilities and buildings. Each control unit can
handle up to 500 luminaires.
RUBIC MINI UNA has an integrated a web interface, intuitive graphic menu enabling quick and easy system configuration
without the need to use external software.
Each RS address module is assigned an individual number/address. The addresses are factory-assigned so an addressing unit is not
required for installation, setting up or maintenance work.

Applicable regulations require that periodic tests of emergency lighting systems are carried out - both short functional
tests and long battery performance tests – and that an event log is maintained. These events are registered in the non-
volatile memory of the control unit and will not be lost even if the battery is disconnected or drained. At any time, the
event log can be saved to .txt file via any browser.

Depending on the project set up the system may include the following components:

2.1. TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

2.2. RUBIC MINI UNA CONTROL UNIT.

The main component of the system is a RUBIC mini UNA control unit. It can control small and extensive systems alike. Each
control unit is equipped with (Fig. 2.):
- front panel with indicators lights and function keys
- Power supply connection
- Internal submodules to communicate with luminaires
- RJ45 connector
- I/O module to communicate with the BMS and to control the unit.

The central RUBIC UNA MINI is designed for mounting on DIN (TH-35). Installation is done by inserting the panel on the
mounting rail and then protection against accidental ejection special ratchet - see Figure 4.

The control unit is equipped with a web interface. All information about the status of the system is displayed directly on
the top bar of the screen..

Complete system configuration is possible from the main screen. Each control unit has a built-in battery to ensure that in case the
mains supply is interrupted the unit can remain functional for at least 3 hours.

The internal battery is capable of supplying power to the unit for at least 3 hours provided that no other loads are
connected to the 12VDC output.

2.2.1. MAIN SCREEN

Each control unit is equipped with a web interface which the system can be set up. In order to be able to view and modify
system settings the user must log on to one of the following access levels:
− Normal user (no password)
− Administrator (default password: 123)
− Service (sets service)

Appropriate access rights are granted by Technical Support at the time of commissioning, or by a properly trained
person responsible for the system maintenance (for a description of access rights see Section 6.1).

Logged-in users will see the following main icons (system elements):

LUM Group means a group of luminaires. Individual luminaires from any submodule can be assigned to the so-called
Group. A LUM Group operates like a single submodule and the luminaires are logically linked within the group. This
enables flexible testing of a number of luminaires at the same time – when luminaires connected to different submodules
are located in the same area. The groups are identified by letters from A to O. All luminaires are automatically assigned to
the so-called default group.

The luminaire menu is organized in two levels. One is a quick access submenu called up from the main menu of the
control unit (Fig. 14) and the other one is a standard submenu available from the menu of a submodule (Fig. 15). Each of the two
levels offer access to the same setting options.

The Luminaire menu enables quick access to a list of luminaires and the most frequently used options. All luminaires
added to the RUBIC system are displayed in the main window in the form of a checklist. By selecting the desired
checkbox on the bottom bar available options can be called up.

The standard submenu is more sophisticated in terms of graphics, however only one selected luminaire can be set up at
the same time there. This window contains buttons to control the switched mode, test activation buttons, a luminaire
settings button, a short and a detailed status description.

2.2.2. CONNECTOR PANEL

RUBIC MINI UNA control units are equipped with an additional I/O MODULE to send status information and receive
control signals. The module also features an RJ45 connector to communicate with SmartVISIO software via an Ethernet local area
network (LAN) or a dedicated computer network.

Each I/O MODULE has 2 potential-free inputs and 2 potential-free outputs.

• POTENTIAL-FREE OUTPUTS

The two potential-free outputs are responsible for the transmission of RUBIC MINI UNA system status signal for external
use. Each output can be assigned one of the following functions:
− None
− Error
− Emergency mode
− Switched mode
− Mains supply mode
− Test
− Emergency or test mode

Functions are assigned by selection of the desired option in the Output function window opened as shown in the figure below.

Upon selection the window closes and the output is assigned the desired function. When the function is actuated relevant output
contacts in the I/O MODULE are closed (and the signal is sent out). The logic is inverted when the selected function is disabled.

The relay contacts are open by default (NO), infinite resistance appears and after actuation of the function the contacts
remain open. The operational logic of relay contacts (NC) can be inverted. To do so select the NC option from the drop-
down list A (marked in red in Fig. 17) and confirm your selection by pressing OK . The source of the signal can also be
selected: the control unit or a specific group of luminaires. The available options are in the drop-down list B.

The current status of the input/output is indicated by a green LED on the main screen. When the LED is grey the
corresponding function is not set or the input/output is disabled. Output functions and statuses are described in the figure below.

• POTENTIAL-FREE INPUTS

The I/O MODULE is equipped with two potential-free inputs (see Fig. 16). Each of the inputs can be programmed and used
as follows:
- Emergency mode lock ON/OFF
- System nighttime mode ON/OFF
- Logical group switched mode ON/OFF
- No function

Functions are assigned by selection of the desired option in the Input function window opened as shown below (Fig. 19).

Upon selection the window closes and the input is assigned the desired function. When a potential-free signal appears on the I/O
MODULE input contacts the assigned function is actuated. When the signal disappears the function becomes inactive.

The input contacts are open by default but the manner of actuation can be changed. To do so select the desired option
from the drop-down list C:
- Active when closed NO
- Active when opened NC
- Current loop with a serial resistor R_SER
- Current loop with a parallel resistor R_PAR

When the function and one of the actuation options above are set confirm your selection by pressing OK . The drop-down list D
enables selection of the system element to be controlled by the input signal. The whole control unit or one of the groups can be
selected from the list.

The current status of the output is indicated by a green LED on the main screen. The statuses are the same as for the outputs
(see Fig. 18).

2.2.3. POWER CONNECTION

According to the technical specifications provided in previous Sections, the RUBIC MINI UNA control unit must be
supplied with mains power rated 220-230V AC 50/60Hz to ensure correct operation of the system. The control unit has a
UPS with built-in battery which supplies power both in normal conditions and in case of a mains power failure.

The integrated power unit has a built-in LiFePo4 1000mAh 12.8V battery to ensure the RUBIC UNA control unit remains
operational for at least 3 hours in the event of power outage, provided that no device is connected to the 12V DC output.
An external device can be supplied using the 12V DC outputs in the connector panel (see Fig. 21). The maximum power
output is 6W.

2.2.4. INTERNAL SUBMODULES

Submodules are the main elements of the system. There are one types of submodules: Internal SM.

The internal submodule is permanently integrated in the control unit. It cannot be removed and no additional internal
submodules can be installed. The control unit is factory-equipped with 3 submodules that can handle up to 500
luminaires. Each submodule has two channels for the connection of two lines, up to 1200m long each. Communication
circuits should be laid using a linear topology.
Each submodule can be assigned any user address (determined by the user as needed and according to the local system
structure); however the addresses should not be doubled within one system.

Each submodule channel has three inputs:


- A – one conductor of a communication cable
- B – the other conductor of a communication cable
- ┴ - Screen/ground

In all RUBIC systems polarity should be observed in communication lines. Any deviations may disturb the correct
performance of the system.

2.2.5. SETTING UP THE IP ADDRESS OF THE RUBIC MINI UNA

A new IP address is assigned to the submodule as follows:

1. Supply power (230VAC)


2. Connect the unit to a computer using the RJ45 connector and a LAN cable
3. As the default IP address of an RUBIC MINI UNA and your computer IP are different, change the computer IP to one
from the same range, e.g. 192.168.0.2, in the network card settings.
In order to change your computer IP open the Control Panel window, go to Network Connections > Local Area
Connection > Properties, find Internet Protocol Version 4 and click Properties:

Enter the values shown above in the IP address and Subnet mask, respectively and confirm the changes by clicking
OK. Close the window. If selections made in steps 5 and 6 are not confirmed by clicking OK, the new IP address will
not be assigned.

4. Open a web browser and put 192.168.0.1 (factory set address) in the address line, then confirm by pressing ENTER.

9. As the IP address of the unit is now 10.48.0.170, in order to verify the address the IP address of the connected
computer (its network card) should be set correctly – Item 3, Step 4.– A relevant address from the 10.48.0.x range
should be now assigned, or the automatic setting option can be used (Obtain an IP address automatically.
10. The unit can be connected to the Ethernet.

The actual configuration of the IP address in your computer may differ from the procedure described above due to
different operating system environments.

2.2.6. RESTORING THE DEFAULT ADDRESS.

The default IP address (192.168.0.1) can be restored at any time by pressing and holding the SERVICE PIN for about 5 seconds.
This will reset the settings to the default IP address.

2.3. CONNECTING A COMMUNICATION BUS TO A SUBMODULE

The communication bus should be connected directly to the appropriate submodule (SM). The communication cable should
be properly secured and insulated so that it cannot short with other cables or external components.
The continuity of the screen (┴) must be ensured when connecting the communication cable to a selected
channel. Appropriate polarity should also be observed. If the emergency lighting modules have a blue conductor
connected to Terminal A the corresponding blue conductor must be connected to Terminal A in the control unit
as well. The other communication conductor should be connected accordingly.

Communication buses are connected to a channel of the internal submodule (Fig. 22).

Make sure the communication cable is correctly connected to the appropriate submodule.
Make sure the communication cable conductors are correctly connected to the submodule channel.

The connected screen should be insulated. Bare screening braid may cause short circuits and affect the
operation of the system. The continuity of the screen must be maintained.

Remember that conductors must be connected following the same pattern across the system, i.e. when a blue
conductor is connected to Terminal A and a white conductor to Terminal B in the first luminaire, the same
manner of connection must be applied in all subsequent luminaires and when connecting the communication
cable to a submodule.

The communication cable screen may not be used as one of communication conductors. The screen (ground)
conductor must be connected in each submodule and the RUBIC MINI UNA control unit.

Luminaires must be connected to appropriate communication buses and submodules.


The required cable is a twisted pair with a screen or ground conductor.

The structure of a RUBIC system requires suitable and correctly connected communication lines. It is essential to
ensure communication between all RUBIC system elements. In Section 4 (see Section 4 – Installation of a
communication bus. Recommendations) the principal requirements are specified.

2.4. SMARTVISIO

The Rubic MINI UNA system is equipped with signal panel and an intuitive graphic menu from web browser, enabling quick
and easy system configuration without the need to use external software. Additionally, AWEX offers a dedicated PC software
application – SmartVISIO.
It is an advanced control and monitoring application for emergency lighting systems, including the RUBIC MINI UNA. It
enables connection, grouping and visualization of the operation of each integrated system at the same place and time.

The RUBIC MINI UNA control panel provides information about the current status of the control unit, connected
submodules, inputs and outputs, errors, locks, nighttime mode, power supply, battery and charging, and gives access to
reports, test results and the configuration of the control unit. Group and submodule statuses are indicated by means of
icons.

SmartVISIO is a separate product in the price list. It is not supplied as a standard component of the RUBIC UNA system.
Operating instructions are provided in a separate manual, dedicated to the SmartVISIO software. To order SmartVISIO

2.5. ESCAPE ROUTE LIGHTING AND DIRECTIONAL LIGHTING LUMINAIRES

RUBIC UNA control units can be used with LED light sources. Each compatible module/luminaire is equipped with a bi-colour
control LED. The lighting patterns of the LED depend on the operating status of the unit (see Table 6).

Luminaires/modules have own addresses, unique within the system. Note the address when connecting a luminaire. The unique
address consists of a sequence of digits and letters assigned in production.

2.6. INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION

Each module and luminaire has a communication connection. The cable should be connected in a manner that prevents
an accidental short circuit with the metal enclosure or other cables, including the other conductors of the
communication cable.

Each module is equipped with a screw terminal block for three communication conductors:
- A – one conductor of a communication cable
- B – the other conductor of a communication cable
- ┴ – Screen/ground
The arrangement of communication terminals in RUBIC MINI UNA system modules is shown in figures below.

3. CONTROL UNIT SERIAL NUMBER AND LICENCE

Each control unit has a unique serial number assigned in production. A label with the number is placed on a side of the
enclosure. The serial number is required to use SmartVISIO and to request information or lodge a complaint regarding the product.
The number can also be displayed by pressing the System Information icon in the Main Menu.

4. INSTALLATION OF A COMMUNICATION BUS. RECOMMENDATIONS.

Communication between luminaires and submodules is effected via an additional cable (see connection instructions in
Section 2.8.1.

The rate is expressed in b/s (bits per second) and depends on the quality of communication line connections. The better
the connection standard the higher rates can be achieved. This directly affects the overall performance rate of the
system (message refresh rate, response times etc.).

The maximum communication rate depends on the quality of the line, which is verified by AWEX Technical Service
Department at the time of system start-up and commissioning. Information about the communication rate will be
included in the service report submitted for acceptance to an authorized representative of the client.

When laying a communication line a suitable shielded twisted pair cable for differential signalling should be used. The
cable should have the same wave impedance and cross section along the whole communication bus. If a non-shielded
cable is used one of the conductors must be connected to the ground input of the system/module.

The layout of a communication line should ensure that both submodule outputs have similar loads, i.e. a similar number
of devices (luminaires) should be connected to them.

The maximum length of a communication line with a linear topology is 1200 m. In order to obtain 1200 m conductors
with appropriate parameters should be used: YTKSYekw 1x2x0.8mm2, U-UTP 4x2x0.5 Cat. 5, F-UTP 4x2x0.5 Cat. 5, U-UTP
4x2x0.5 Cat. 6, F-UTP 4x2x0.5 Cat. 6.

UTP or FTP cable Cat. 6 or better should be used for LAN-based data transmission between the control unit and a
computer with SmartVISIO; the maximum length of such a line is 100 m. Using cables with worse parameters can result in
communication problems and will decrease the functional length of a LAN bus.

Communication cables should be laid in conduits for low-current wiring and routing of the cables along power supply lines
should be avoided. Ring topology is prohibited.

5. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

The system can be configured directly with the web interface. Optionally, the system can be configured remotely via a
dedicated website if SmartVISIO software is installed on the premises.

In order to configure the system using the website the RUBIC UNA control unit and the computer must be connected to
the same LAN. A direct connection is described in Section 2.3.1 for a submodule. The control unit is connected in the
same way. When the IP address of the control unit is entered in a web browser a menu reflecting the unit’s screen will be
displayed. The required default login and password are: admin and “123”.

The following must be observed to configure the system correctly:


- Make sure that all required luminaires are installed, connected and powered
- Check the continuity and connections of the communication line between individual luminaires
- Consult valid location and network plans with luminaire addresses to identify and locate them (especially when the
luminaires are programmed to operate in the “switched” mode).

6. SELECTED SYSTEM FUNCTIONS AVAILABLE IN THE CONTROL UNIT MENU

Every time a short or long test is performed the operation is registered in the event log. All functions described in this
Section 6 are available to the Administrator.

6.1. RUBIC CONTROL UNIT AUTHORIZATION LEVELS

There are three access levels to the configuration and operation of a RUBIC UNA system. Each level is intended for a
different group of users. Regular User is the lowest level with the smallest number of privileges; it is intended for
everyday users of the system. Administrator has more privileges and can perform actions that are necessary to ensure
correct operation of the system. Service Technician is reserved for AWEX technical service personnel and enables a
complete configuration and access to all available functions.

The table below shows a summary of all RUBIC MINI UNA functions available on the individual access levels. The Administrator has
access to all functions of a Regular User and additional privileges assigned to this level.

6.3 SHORT TEST
Using the RUBIC MINI UNA control unit all luminaires connected to the system can be tested at any time. Before
performing a short test make sure that the emergency mode lock is not enabled by accident. With the lock enabled the
test will not run.

6.3.1 SHORT TEST OF A SUBMODULE.

Initiating a short test of a selected submodule will trigger testing of all luminaires connected to the submodule. A short
test is 5 minutes long and it includes all factors that influence proper operation of the RUBIC MINI UNA system:
- Communication with the luminaire(s)
- Correct battery connection
- Correct functioning of the light source
- Correct functioning of the electronics of the power supply system
- Correct configuration of the luminaire(s)
The duration of a short test can be set within a range of 1 – 1000 minutes from the Control Unit menu -> Control Unit Settings
(Fig. 9).

Initiating a short test from a submodule is very user-friendly as shown in the picture below.

When the Test button is pressed the status message Test in progress: Yes will be active to confirm the initiation of a short test.
After 5 minutes the status message will change to Test in progress: No.

If the system detects an error the status message Error: Yes will be highlighted. To find out the details return to the main system
menu. The System summary tab shows the information on the number of errors and their dates (Fig. 43).

The Luminaire status tab is divided into three sections. The top section describes the current status of the luminaire, the middle
section provides technical parameters of the most recent test and the bottom section shows the firmware version.
The RUBIC MINI UNA system can detect the following faults and errors:

- Luminaire communication error
- Incorrect battery type
The table below provides a summary of the most frequent causes of error messages.

6.3.2 SHORT TEST OF A LUMINAIRE GROUP


A short test of a group of luminaires is similar to the submodule test. To initiate a short test of a group go to the Group
tab and select the group to test. The system may comprise up to 16 groups with the default group listing all luminaires that have
not been assigned to any other specific group. The groups are identified by letters from A to O. When the required group is
selected its menu will be displayed; the name of the group will be shown on the top bar.
Press the Short test button in the Test tab. When the function is actuated a message asking to wait will appear and the
Test in progress: Yes will be highlighted in the Status tab. When the test is completed the yellow lamp will go off and the system
will display the current status information.

Viewing group test results and status information is similar as in the case of single luminaires. Alternatively, press the
Luminaire button and check the luminaire to view on the list (see Fig. 14a).

6.3.3 SHORT TEST OF A SINGLE LUMINAIRE

A short test of a single luminaire enables testing of a selected unit without actuating all light sources within the
submodule or group. A short test of a luminaire can be initiated in two ways. It can be initiated from the Submodule menu or from
the Luminaire menu. The test is the same in both cases.

The diagrams below show the two ways of initiating a short test of a selected luminaire from the standard menu and the
quick access menu.

The first way is similar to the short test of a submodule, except that the Luminaires button is pressed in the Submodule
tab and then the required luminaire is selected.

6.4 ENABLING/DISABLING THE SWITCHED (NIGHTTIME) MODE

The system has a function of enabling/disabling a switchable operating pattern. Each luminaire can be supplied with the
“switched mode”. In the case of UNILED UM modules a switched mode attachment is required (Fig. 49) but UNILED BM modules
have the feature implemented by default.

The switched mode attachment is an optional component and should be specified in the order. It is installed at the
manufacturer’s facility. If the attachment has to be installed on an existing module by the customer, an installation

The switched mode function can be enabled for:


- The whole system,
- A submodule,
- A group of luminaires,
- A single luminaire.

6.4.1. ENABLING THE SWITCHED MODE FOR THE WHOLE SYSTEM


The switched mode can be enabled or disabled for all luminaires from the Main Menu. To enable or disable the function press the
appropriate button (On or Off) in the Control unit tab.

In the RUBIC MINI UNA system the switched mode can be applied in a selective way. The diagram below shows the way of
enabling/disabling the switched mode for luminaires connected to a selected submodule.

6.4.3. ENABLING THE SWITCHED MODE FOR A SINGLE LUMINAIRE.

To enable the switched mode for a single luminaire follow the instructions shown in Fig. 51. When the submodule is
selected press the Luminaires button and choose the luminaire.

The switched mode can also be called up from the Luminaire quick-access menu by selecting the desired component
from the checklist and pressing Switched mode On in the View menu . Disabling the mode is effected by pressing
the Switched mode Off button.

6.4.4. ENABLING THE SCHWITCHED MODE FOR A LUMINAIRE GROUP.

Enabling the switched mode for a group of luminaires is effected in the same way as for a submodule, except that instead
of the submodule one of the options is selected from the Group menu. See Fig. 51.

6.5. EVENT LOG

In compliance with applicable regulations the control unit stores all system events in non-volatile memory. The events can
be filtered for viewing.

The control unit registers and stores a number of events:

- Test start and end times


- Completed test statuses
- Test interruptions
- Changes of settings
- Changes of the number of luminaires
- Changes of the number of submodules
- Communication errors
- Changes of the nighttime mode settings
- Control unit events

The logs are displayed according to a timeframe specified by the user.

The RUBIC MINI UNA system can store up to 60,000 reports and when the memory is full the logs are overwritten starting
with the oldest ones.

6.5.1. VIEWING SYSTEM LOGS

A list of errors can be viewed from the Control Unit menu. To do so press the System Log button and then specify the start and end
date of the required timeframe.

The RUBIC UNA system features a filter to enable viewing the logs by the type of information. To use the filter for a specified
timeframe press the Options button and choose the Select display filter.

When the required filters are selected you can view events by pressing Show or export to file in PC by pressing Export. Each report
contains information about the time and type of event. The list can be scrolled down and up.

The log date and the address of the luminaire/submodule/group are displayed in the error window. The logs in the example
concern the default group of Submodule 3 (MP3). The first one indicates that the system detected the start of a short test of
Submodule 3, initiated manually by the user. In the last log on the list the report indicates that the test was fillure.

Remember to specify a correct and specific timeframe to display logs when using this function; choosing a whole year may
display a long list of errors. In any case the list is arranged from the most recent events.

6.6. SAVING AND UPLOADING SYSTEM CONFIGURATION DATA

At any time the complete system configuration and luminaire settings can be saved on PC and uploaded from one. Making
a back-up copy of the configuration settings will prevent a loss of important data in case of a failure of the RUBIC MINI UNA
unit.

To save the system configuration on PC press the Export button in the SD card tab of the Control Unit menu and save the
selected files. Similarly, to import settings from PC press the Import button and indicate the path where the configuration files
are stored.

7. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF WARRANTY

1. PPHU „Awex” Rafał Stanuch (the Seller) hereby grants the Customer a Warranty for his products used on the territory of Poland, for the period of 24 months
since the date of the sales of goods, based on terms and conditions set forth underneath.

2. The Warranty applies to manufacturing defects of either electronic parts or the whole device which prevent the device from being used as intended. The
Warranty covers exclusively defects in material, i.e. hidden defects being the result of manufacturing defects or hidden material defects of electronic elements.

3. The basis to use the Warranty powers are in particular the proper storage and proper installation of devices performed by a qualified personnel with all necessary
certificates and the proper operation as per instructions in the manual.

4. Goods covered by the Warranty shall be stored and operated based on conditions and in the manner described in the manual attached thereto.

5. Warranty rights are in particular excluded from the scope of coverage in the event of device interference, its modification, arbitrary repair, improper use or
operation. The Warranty shall not cover defects resulting from adverse impact of external, mechanical, thermal, chemical factors, improper operation and natural
wear and tear, in particular with regards to such materials as battery packs, light sources, etc.

6. The Customer is obliged to file complaints in a written form, within 7 days from the date of detecting the defect, and once the conditions of shipment are agreed
upon, to deliver the faulty goods to the Manufacturer’s company seat. The claim form shall contain a detailed description of the claimed defect as well as the
proof of purchase of the claimed goods. If additional information about the defect or the manner of operating the goods shall be required in the process of
dealing with the claim, the Customer is obliged to provide all necessary data and information. The complaint shall be considered within 14 working days as at the
day of delivery of goods to the Manufacturer’s seat, subject however to the condition that if the claimed goods will have to involve a detailed technical
inspection, the duration time of dealing with a complaint shall be automatically extended. Complaint relevance shall be assessed on the basis of the existing
technical norms.

7. Under the Warranty the Seller may, at his discretion, do, free-of-charge, a repair or replacement of all faulty elements covered by the Warranty with elements
free of defects once the Manufacturer considers and confirms that the goods are indeed faulty. The Seller may also return to the Customer the already paid
amount of money if the repair or replacement is impossible or economically unwarranted. The deadline for performing Warranty obligation is 14 days from the
date of accepting the complaint and it may be prolonged in the event of the circumstances beyond the control of the Seller. The Warranty period shall be
prolonged by the period of time necessary to perform the Warranty repair.

8. In the event of a justified complaint, the Seller shall cover the cost of delivering goods from the Buyer’s seat to the Seller’s seat as well as cover the cost of
delivering goods back to the Buyer’s premises. The Seller shall not bear any additional costs related to the exchange of faulty goods.

9. In the event of unjustified complaint all the costs arising from dealing with the complaint shall be borne by the Buyer. In particular, the Buyer shall be obliged to
cover, as in line with the method of dealing with the complaint, the costs of transport, the cost of travel and the costs of working time of the service personnel as
per individual rates of the Seller, as well as the costs of material, costs of renting necessary equipment, costs of a foreign business trip (if applicable) at the
Seller’s applicable rates, and in the event of the necessity to stay overnight, the costs of accommodation of the service personnel. The Buyer undertakes to pay
the above-mentioned costs on the basis of a relevant VAT invoice. The service report shall also include the number of kilometers covered, the travel time and the
working time of the service personnel.

10. The Seller unequivocally excludes his liability for any losses, damages or expenses directly or indirectly resulting from the use of his goods or from the defect of
these goods, including direct and indirect damages, as well as contingent liabilities of any nature and thus he limits his liability to the goods exclusively. The
obligations of the Seller resulting from this Warranty are restricted to the costs which collectively must not exceed the price of the goods themselves.

11. The complaint procedure is finalised by drawing up a complaint report.

12. The Seller reserves the right to verify the defect of goods covered by the Warranty at a place where the goods are used, after receiving a complaint notification
from the Buyer. Failure to provide access to the faulty device to the Seller’s representatives upon their request, shall be treated as the Buyer’s withdrawal from
the complaint.

13. In the event of a fully payable repair, including a post-warranty repair, the costs of repair services shall be each time individually determined based on the Seller’s
rates, and the costs may include, as and when required: travel, hiring necessary equipment, number of man-hours, accommodation, materials used while
servicing.

14. The Buyer shall be liable for providing the service person with proper access to goods complained about, under pain of the loss of Warranty. In the event of the
lack of proper access or difficult access to goods, the costs of service shall be borne by the Buyer, likewise in the event of an unjustified complaint.

8. DETAILED WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR CENTRAL BATTERY SYSTEMS AND C-RUBIC
SYSTEMS.

1. The User is obliged to conform with General Warranty Terms and Conditions of Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX company. General Warranty Terms and Conditions are
available at www.awex.eu.

2. The Warranty applies merely to those systems which had been launched by the service personnel of Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX company. Launching the system
shall take place no later than 6 months after the sales of the first system component. Warranty terms and conditions shall be determined individually in other
cases.

3. The Warranty is granted on condition that the test run and the required warranty inspections are performed by Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX service team.

4. The User shall be obliged to control the system condition according to the binding legal regulations.

5. During the warranty period the User shall be obliged to troubleshoot immediately after the fault has appeared (maximum within 7 days after the appearance of
faults).

6. During the warranty period the User shall be obliged to run an event log for the C-Rubic system and Central Battery system and record monthly and annual
automatic tests (failures, central unit printouts). All replacements should be taken recorded accordingly.

7. The event log shall be available to Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX Service during inspections or warranty inspections (lack of the event log leads to the loss of any
warranty claims).

8. The User shall be bound to carry out paid inspections at least once a year. In the case of systems monitoring 1,000 or more luminaires with a Warranty covering
the period longer than 24 months, paid inspection shall be carried out at least once every 6 months.

9. A written warranty inspection request shall be made at least 30 days before the expiry date of the previous inspection.

10. The cost of a single inspection shall be specified on the basis of the offers dedicated to individual clients and prepared by Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX Service.

11. The user shall be obliged to carry out all necessary replacements of consumables quoted in the form of technical inspection and to follow all recommendations
mentioned in the form.

12. The Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX Service arrives to the Customer’s premises following a written notification about the failure. In the event of unjustified service call
to the premises, the costs of service visit shall be borne by the Customer (travel, accommodation, etc.).

13. Servicing the system is carried out on consecutive working days.

14. Due to the regulations and occupational safety regulations servicing procedures are carried out by 2 workers.

15. Servicing procedure shall commence only after production of a written authorisation issued by the Customer for his representative, incuding the empowerment
to make declarations of will, in particular signing forms, reports, calculations, etc.

16. The person authorised by the Customer shall be present in the Customer’s premises over the whole servicing duration period – the absence of such person is
equivalent to the acceptance of reports and service costs.

17. The Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX Service guarantees undertaking action within maximum 14 days from the date of written notification of the failure and this time
period may be prolonged in the event of circumstances beyond control of the Seller. The warranty period shall be prolonged by the time necessary for carrying
out the warranty repair.

18. A free-of-charge service is carried out in the Customer’s premises only provided that more than 10% of the system components failed and no less than 20
components of the system.

9. C-RUBIC SYSTEM START-UP REQUEST FORM

Each time before calling Awex Service it is mandatory to fill in and send back the underneath form. The form shall be sent
either by electronic mail or facsimile and it constitutes the basis for the service arrival and, at the same time, constitutes a
confirmation that both the system and the installation have been properly prepared. Appropriate documents shall be
delivered to the Customer by our Sales Department. If that has not been the case, please contact us at: serwis@awex.eu

1.We hereby inform that once Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX Service Team arrivees to the Customer’s premises and establishes non-
compliance of the premises with the above-mentioned terms and conditions, we reserve the right bill the Customer for the costs of
removing defects which prevent the start-up. The costs shall be borne by the Customer in the amount of PLN 90 for each started
man-hour of the service person. In the event that the service team arrives to the premises and find out that some of the activities
have not been carried out and follow-up service visits shall be required, the Customer shall be charged for the next service visits.
The settlement shall be made on the basis of the report drawn up after each visit. The travel time rate is PLN 90.00 net per hour.
Each kilometer driven is charged PLN 1.05 net and each man-hour in the premises is charged PLN 90.00 net. In the event that it is
necessary for the service personnel to work on Saturday or Sunday or later than 8 p.m. or before 6 a.m. on the working days, the
rate shall doubled. In the event that the service visit lasts for a few days and the Customer’s premises are located over 100 km
away from the company’s main office, the settlement shall also include accommodation costs.
2. The Customer undertakes to authorise in writing a contact person for the service team and ensure permanent contact with that
person/ensure the presence of that person before, during and after servicing works.
3. The Customer undertakes to authorise in writing a person who shall, on his behalf, make binding declarations and approve
reports and protocoles.
4. The Authorisation shall be delivered to Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX minimum 2 working days prior to the planned visit of the
service team.
5. Service activities shall commence merely on condition that a written authorisation had been given by the Customer to a person
to represent him, make declarations of will on his behalf, in particular signing protocoles, reports, calculations, etc.
6.The authorised person mentioned by the Customer in his Authorisation shall be present in the premises during the whole process
of servicing – the absence of such person shall be tantamount to accepting the service report and service costs.
7.The Customer undertakes to provide service personnel with unlimited access to any rooms and areas in which components of the
system (signal amplifiers, emergency luminaires, escape luminaires, control unit of the system) are located as well as to provide
free of charge access to equipment for works at heights (e.g. ladders, manlifts).
8.During the visit of Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX service team, the Customer is obliged to provide the service team with support of
his workers who were responsible for installing the emergency lighting luminaires as well as workers responsible for electrical
installation in the building.
9.The completed request form should be sent at serwis@awex.eu minimum 7 days prior to the planned visit (this time limit may be
extended in extraordinary cases).
10.Service team’s regular working hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on the working days.
11.Hourly rates for working past 5:00 p.m. are 50% higher, subject to point 1.
12.Servicing takes place on consecutive days.
13.Due to the occupational safety regulations related to works involving electricity, servicing is carried out by 2 employees.

10. SERVICE REQUEST

Each time before the arrival of the service team for a warranty inspection, post-warranty inspection, service request, it is
mandatory to get acquainted with the underneath form and and complete it. The form shall be sent either by electronic

1. We hereby inform that once Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX service team arrives to the Customer’s premises and establishes non-
compliance of the premises with the above-mentioned terms and conditions, we reserve the right to refuse servicing the devices.
2. Service rates are established individually for each Customer on the basis of a service offer presented by Rafał Stanuch PPHU AWEX.
An advanced payment of 50% of the price should be made 7 days prior to the planned visit of the service team.
3. In the event that no rate had been previously agreed on for a service, the settlement shall be based on the rates applicable in Rafał
Stanuch PPHU AWEX company. The settlement shall be made on the basis of the service report produced after each visit. The travel
time rate is PLN 90.00 net per hour per each service person. Each kilometer driven is charged PLN 1.05 net and each man-hour in
the premises is charged PLN 90.00 net. In the event that it is necessary for the service personnel to work on Saturday or Sunday or
later than 8 p.m. or before 6 a.m. on the working days, the regular hourly rate shall doubled. In the event of a few-days’ service visit
to the premises located over 100 km away from the company’s main office, the settlement shall also include accommodation

A C-Rubic system warranty/post warranty inspection shall involve:


- measurements in mains/emergency/switching mode
- visual inspection of electrical elements
- mechanical inspection of C-Rubic control unit

- interpreting results displayed by C-Rubic
