BENGUET STATE UNIVERSITY 2024 INTRAMURALS IS

OFFICIALLY OPEN!

The BSU Intramurals for the year 2024 officially

commenced with a colorful parade featuring delegations
from various colleges within BSU La Trinidad, Bokod,
and Buguias. The parade kicked off in front of the
College of Home Economics and Technology (CHET)
building and made its way to the oval. The theme for the
Intramurals Week is "to heal, to rise, and to move
forward." Following the parade, a flag-raising ceremony
took place.

The guest speaker for the event was Islay Erika Bomogao,
who shared her remarkable achievements over the years.
Bomogao, a proud alumna of the BSU-Secondary
Laboratory School, is the first Filipina Muaythai world
champion. She emphasized that her journey towards
realizing her dream was not an easy one.

Bomogao highlighted the importance of discipline in her

training, education, and time management, which played a
significant role in her accomplishments and recognition.
She also emphasized the valuable lessons she learned from
defeat.

According to Bomogao, winning games is not solely about

the outcome, but also about the respect shown to
opponents. She believes that sportsmanship defines one's
character more than any scoreboard or medal ever will.

The opening ceremony of the Intramurals was attended

by BSU officials, including University President Felipe
Salaing Comila, who expressed his gratitude and
appreciation to Bomogao for sharing her experiences
and triumphs.
IN THE MIDST OF DEFEAT, THERE IS REAL TRIUMPH

In the midst of defeat, there are valuable lessons to be learned. It is during these
challenging moments that we have the opportunity to grow and improve ourselves. Defeat
teaches us resilience, perseverance, and the importance of learning from our mistakes. When we
experience defeat, we are forced to reflect on our actions and strategies. We can analyze what
went wrong, identify areas for improvement, and make necessary adjustments. This process of
self-reflection and self-improvement is crucial for personal and professional development.
Defeat also teaches us humility and the importance of sportsmanship. It reminds us that winning
is not everything and that how we handle ourselves in the face of defeat is equally important. It is
through defeat that we learn to appreciate the efforts and achievements of others, and to show
respect and grace in both victory and defeat.

Ultimately, the lessons we learn from defeat shape our character and help us become
better individuals. They teach us resilience, determination, and the ability to bounce back
stronger. So, while defeat may be disheartening in the moment, it is an opportunity for growth
and learning that should not be overlooked.

So, as a future early childhood educator, the lesson I have learned from the intramurals
will certainly influence my life in the future. Being with students who are full of pride and
attitude and struggle to accept defeat, I understand the importance of teaching them about the
value of defeat. When I embark on teaching them about the significance of defeat in the future, I
will share the experience I gained from participating in the intramurals. I will recount how I
faced defeat with resilience, humility, and a positive attitude, and how it helped me grow and
learn.

By sharing my personal experience, I hope to inspire my students to embrace defeat as an

opportunity for growth and learning. I want them to understand that it is not something to be
feared or avoided, but rather a chance to develop essential life skills such as resilience,
perseverance, and sportsmanship. In my classroom, I will create a supportive and encouraging
environment where students feel safe to take risks, learn from their failures, and grow both
academically and personally. I will emphasize the value of learning from mistakes and using
setbacks as stepping stones towards success.

As an early childhood educator, I recognize the power I have to shape young minds and
instill important values in them. By sharing my own experiences and lessons learned, I hope to
guide my students towards becoming resilient, confident, and compassionate individuals who
understand the importance of embracing defeat as a part of their journey towards success.
