ABSOLUTE PHRASE

PART A : LÝ THUYẾT
Cấu trúc tuyệt đối là gì?
- Khi 2 chủ ngữ khác nhau, người ta dùng cấu
trúc tuyệt đối để rút gọn bằng cách bỏ liên từ,
lấy động từ thêm ing nếu chủ động, biến thành
V3 nếu bị động.

a) Ví dụ 1:
+ The weather being fine, they went for a walk.
Mình hiểu nếu viết đầy đủ có thể là:
When the weather was fine, they went for a walk.
(2 chủ ngữ khác nhau, bỏ liên từ when, lấy động từ thêm ing)

b) Ví dụ 2:
+ The old man tried to get up, the young man helping him.
+ Mình hiểu nếu viết đầy đủ có thể là:
The old man tried to get up, and the young man helped him.
(2 chủ ngữ khác nhau rút gọn câu sau, bỏ liên từ and lấy động từ thêm ving).

c) Ví dụ 3:
+ Her homework completed, Robin went to bed at midnight.
+ Mình hiểu nếu viết đầy đủ có thể là:
When her homework was completed, Robin went to bed at midnight.
(2 chủ ngữ khác nhau, bỏ liên từ when dùng V3 vì câu bị động)

d) Ví dụ 4:
Because there was nothing else to do, they went home (khác chủ ngữ)
→ There being nothing else to do, they went home. (chủ động)

e) Ví dụ 5:
If the weather is fine tomorrow, we will go picnicking together.
→ The weather being fine tomorrow, we will go picnicking together.

f) Ví dụ 6:
When our house was cleaned, we could go to Mary’s birthday party. (khác chủ ngữ)
→ Our house cleaned, we could go to Mary’s birthday party.

g) Ví dụ 7:
After the signal was given, the car started at once.
→ The signal given, the car started at once.
