Reading

It’s Farah’s first day in her job at The ABC Company. Read the dialogue
between her and the manager, Edward:

A: Good morning. You must be the new colleague. I’m Edward.

B: Hello. My name is Farah – yes, I’m the new colleague. Thanks for meeting
me today.
A: Welcome to the ABC Company, Farah. Today, I will describe my work in the
department and then, I’ll explain your new job to you.
B: What do you do, Edward?
A: I manage a team of three sales people – you will be the fourth person. In my
job, I’m responsible for the sales forecast and I also present the sales results to
senior managers every month.
B: How will we work together?
A: I present sales targets for the month and year to the sales staff. As you are
the new sales person, I will give you an objective for each week and month. I will
train you in our sales strategy.
B: It sounds challenging!
A: Yes – it’s exciting. You will receive commission on every customer you gain.
The more productive you are, the higher your salary will be.

Guess the Job

The teacher writes a profession on a piece of paper and the students have a
maximum of ten questions to try to guess what it is. The teacher can only
answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’. An example of a question could be ‘Do you wear a
uniform’? This game can be played multiple times with different professions
and the teacher can allow the students to choose the profession.
