To Whom It May Concem:
Collin Cratts has become a wonderful addition to the Clarkston High School science department
since his first day in the building. Teachers like Mr. Crafts make school communities more
rewarding and engaging for students, I’ve had the pleasure of being one of Mr. Crafts’ physics
students for the 2023-2024 school year. I’m incredibly proud of his growth as a teacher over the last
ight months and have full confidence in his ability to excel in his future classrooms. Mr. Crafts’
knowledge merely begins with his understanding of science. It reaches to effective communication
strategies as well as the ability to develop positive relationships with students and classroom
culture.
During class, Mr. Crafts is confident in his teaching, and understands physics concepts deeply to
adapt to student questions that may go beyond the basic understanding of curriculum. He often
prompts classroom thinking by asking questions that require group work, encouraging students to
use their thoughts together, while offering gentle guidance through the discussions. When
demonstrating or explaining new topics, Mr. Crafts gives concise explanations, but is more than
willing to explore concepts in depth upon student request. He excels when answering student
questions due to his impeccable ability to listen to young minds and meet them at their level of
understanding without judgment. Furthermore, Mr. Crafts has made himself available for extra
student help outside of his school hours to ensure that all of his students have the opportunity to
seek the help they need.
In addition to his insightful teaching style, Mr. Crafts strives to develop positive relationships in a
way that many established teachers have not accomplished. He is more than willing to listen to silly
stories about his students’ lives and refuses to invalidate a student’s misunderstanding, Mr. Crafts
participates in student-led events around Clarkston High School such as spirit days and fundraisers,
showing that he supports all of his students and their unique interests. ‘Though he was unable to
participate this year, Mr. Crafts has expressed great interest in mentoring students through CHS”
Real Talk program, in which students get candid about their mental health and daily struggl
In conclusion, I have thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Crafts’ teaching over the 2023-2024 school year and
will continue to root for his success in the future. I have every reason to believe that Mr, Crafts will
be an exemplary teacher in his own classroom and will continue to make positive impacts on his
students' lives,
Sincerely,
