1. INTRODUCTION

Being a landlocked country and a mountainous topography road transportation

is an important as well as challenging means. Due to various problems like
political instability, financial condition, technical complexity etc. other means
of transportation such as ropeway, airways, railways are not being further
developed so road transportation is important means which is easier than others
to be developed.

Our project focuses on the detailed engineering survey of tribeni temple-

anantalingeshwor view tower road. The detailed survey of the particular road
helps in the improvement of the section which helps in easiness to travel in the
view tower from the tribeni temple.

2. OBJECTIVES

 To facilitate broad and safe route to anantalingeshwor view tower.

 To design road as per NRS.
 To survey and design of the proposed road.
 To have cost estimate the proposed road.

3. METHODOLOGY
3.1. Desk study
3.1.1) Existing maps and literature will be studied.
3.1.2) Tentative alignment of road will be determined.

3.2. Reconnaissance
3.2.1) Site visit will be done to know basic information about site.
3.2.2) Feasibility of the proposed road alignment will be determined.
3.3. Topographic survey
3.3.1) Control points will be established according to site requirement.
3.3.2) Hairpin bends and curves as required will be established.
3.3.3) Survey will be performed using open traverse method.
3.3.4) EDM will be used in this survey

3.4. Office works

3.4.1) Contour map will be prepared along with the design of plan, profile and
cross section.

3.4.2) Quantity and cost estimation will be done of the project by considering
various factors.

3.4.3) Report including the progress and output of our work will be prepared.
The road alignment will then be designed with the help of software such as
AUTO-CAD, SW DTM and SW ROAD.

4.DISCUSSION
The existing road condition is below average as it is very narrow in many points
and not suitable for heavy vehicles. The roadway becomes dusty in the dry
season and gets muddy in the monsoon and have poor drainage facilities. This
project focuses on providing an alternative solution to these problems. Proper
design of the road can help solve various issues that occur on this route each
year, including improving pedestrian safety, and mitigating environmental
pollution. Construction of a well-designed road in this area would benefit many
people during travel - both drivers and pedestrians alike.
4.1. Instruments required
4.1.1) Total Station
4.1.2) Prism and stand
4.1.3) Measuring tape
4.1.4) GPS

4.2. Time management

4.2.1) Desk Work And Reconnaissance (Chaitra 25-Chaitra 30)
4.2.2) Topographic Survey (Baisakh 1-Baisakh 20 )
4.2.3) Preparation of Road Alignment (Baisakh 21-Jestha 10)
4.2.4) Quantity, lab tests, rate and cost estimation (Jestha 11-Jestha 25)
4.2.5) Report preparation (Jestha 25- Asadh 20)

5. CONCLUSION
Due to the small-time frame allocated for this semester, our proposed
schedule may get heavily affected. So, considering this tight schedule, we
shall complete the project on Detail Design, survey and Quantity Estimate of
road with proper safety.
