MATHS REVISION WORKSHEET – CIRCLES

1) Two tangents PA and PB are drawn to a circle with centre O such that
∠APB =1200. Prove that OP = 2AP
2) In the given figure, OD is perpendicular to the chord AB of a circle whose
centre is O. If BC is a diameter, find 𝐶𝐴
𝑂𝐷

3) A circle is touching the side BC of ∆ ABC at P and

touching AB and AC produced at Q and R respectively.
Prove that AQ = ½ (Perimeter of ∆ ABC)

4) If PA and PB are tangents from a point P lying outside the circle such that PA = 10 cm and ∠APB = 600.
Find length of chord AB.

5) With the vertices of a triangle ABC as centre, three circles are described, each touching the other two
externally. If the sides of the triangle are 9 cm, 7 cm and 6 cm, then find the radii of the circles.

6) If a, b and c are the sides of a right-angled triangle where c is the hypotenuse, prove that the radius r of
𝑎+𝑏−𝑐
the incircle which touches the sides of the triangle is given by 𝑟 =
2

7) AB is a chord of a circle with centre O.AOC is a diameter and AT is tangent to the circle at the point A.
Show that ∠BAT = ∠ACB.

8) In the figure, quadrilateral ABCD is circumscribing a circle with

centre O and AD⊥AB. If radius of incircle is 10cm, then the value of
x is

9) PQ is a tangent to a circle with centre O at point P. If ∆OPQ is an isosceles triangle, then find ∠OQP.
10) PQ is a chord of a circle and PT is the tangent at P such that ∠𝑄𝑃𝑇 = 60. Then, find ∠𝑃𝑅𝑄.
Find the radius of the circle from the figure.

11) ABC is a right-angled triangle right angled at B with AB = 12 cm and AC = 13 cm. A circle with centre
O has been inscribed inside the triangle. Calculate the radius of the circle.

12) A quadrilateral ABCD is drawn to circumscribe a circle such that its sides AB, BC, Cd and AD touch
the circle at P, Q, R and S respectively. If AB = x cm, BC = 7 cm, CR = 3 cm and AS = 5 cm, then what is
the value of x.

13) The tangent at any point of a circle is perpendicular to the radius through the point of contact
14) The lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.

15) Two tangents TP and TQ are drawn to a circle with centre O from an external point T. Prove that
<PTQ = 2 < OPQ.

16) PQ is a chord of length 8 cm of a circle of radius 5 cm. The tangents at P and Q intersect at a point T.
Find the length TP.
