The free high energy neutrons knock the oxygen nuclei and creates a radioactive nigrogen-16 The flow of oxygen-containing substances, especially water, is reflected by measuring
nuclei. This subsequently undergoes beta decay leaving an exited state of oxygen. The exited the gamma ray time spectrum in the tubing, annular space and outside casing. The
oxygen then stabilizes generally by emitting gamma rays. The oxygen activation detects the velocity of water flow can be calculated by analyzing the time spectrum, and then the
gamma rays counts. flow rate can be calculated

Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages:
a. Suitable for all types of injection Wells
b. More accurately calculate the absorption water profile
c. Monitor the channel and loss interval, check downhole tube.
d. Measure the annular space flow through tubing
e. Monitor flow leakage location, sealing condition
f. It is not affected by the injection liquid, channel and oil pollution in the tubing
g. Not use any radioactive tracer and not cause contamination to the wellbore and formation
Disadvantages:
a. The string ID is required highly
b. The measurement accuracy is affected when the flow rate is too low

Application
• Casing leakage
The well is a general positive injection well, injection rate is 115m3/d. After
500 m
release isotope two times, The absorption water profile was not detected in the
650 m
perforation zone under tube shose and the tracer reaction was not detected too.
