Pa'no ba gumawa ng sentence na magkasundo si subject at si verb?

1. Kailangan alam po natin i-identify kung sino si subject at kung sino si verb.

2. Kailangan alam po natin yung mga rules pagdating sa Subject-Verb Agreement.

Eto po yung mga rules:

1. Yung mga words po na "together with, as well as, along with, including" at iba pa ay hindi
nakakaapekto sa verb.

E.g. The SECRETARY, as well as the MANAGERS, HAVE submitted the report.

>>Ang subject po sa sentence na yan ay secretary at managers- 2 magkaibang tao po yan kaya ang
ginamit na verb at plural (have) at in past tense po dahil sa word na 'submitted'. At kung uunawain po
yung buong sentence, ang meaning po nya ehh nakapag-submit na ng report yung secretary at mga
managers.

2. Kapag may ginamit naman pong word na "Neither", singular po dapat yung verb.

E.g. Neither of the Team Leaders is here.

3. Kapag naman po "Either" yung word na nakita nyo sa sentence, kung ano po yung subject na
pinakamalapit sa verb, yun po ang sinusunod.

E.g. Either James or the ladies are ready for the presentation.

>> Plural po yung ginamit na verb (are) dahil plural po yung pinakamalapit na subject sa verb (the
ladies).

4. Kapag naman po may positive at negative na subject sa sentence, ang sinusunod po ng verb ay yung
positive na subject.

E.g. The managers, not the president check your attendance.

>>Yung positive na subject po dyan ay yung 'the managers' at yung negative naman ay yung 'the
president'. Without 's' po yung verb na ginamit (check) dahil yung positive subject ay plural (the
managers).
5. Kapag naman po may fractions sa sentence, kung ano po yung noun after ni fraction, yun po yung
susundin ni verb.

E.g. One-fourth of the apple is eaten.

>>Singular verb po ang ginamit (is) dahil singular po yung noun after ng fraction (apple).

6. Pag singular si subject, singular si verb. Pag plural si subject, plural si verb.

>> Eto po yung naipost ko na. Pag singular subject with 's' si verb. Pag plural subject without 's' si verb.

7. Kapag naman po may nakita kayong indefinite pronouns sa sentence katulad ng "anybody, everybody,
anyone, no one, each, nobody, somebody, everyone, not one, someone" at iba pa, palagi pong singular
ang verb na ginagamit.

E.g. Everyone loves going to the beach.

8. Palagi naman pong singular verb ang gamit kapag ang subject ay title ng libro, movie at iba pa.

E.g. "Gulliver's Travel" is on sale at the bookshop.

9. Kapag naman po may distance, amount at measurement ang sentence, palagi pong singular si verb.

E.g. Two hundred pesos is more than enough for my lunch.

Ten miles is what Sheila drives every day.

10. Yung word na 'and' naman po, kapag tumutukoy sa dalawang magkaparehong subject, singular si
verb.

E.g. An old friend and classmate of ours is visiting me over weekend.

Kapag naman po tumutukoy sa dalawang magkaibang subject, plural po si verb.

E.g. Jack and James are playing video games.

11. Kapag naman po nakita nyo yung mga word na "few, several, many", palaging plural si verb.
E.g. A few of them think we should go on as planned.

12. Kapag naman po nakita nyo yung word na "A number of", plural verb po dapat ang gamitin. Kapag
naman po "the number of", singular verb.

NOTE: Galing po sa libro yan. Mas nilawakan ko lang po ang pagpapaliwanag at taglish po ang ginamit ko
na language para mas madaling maintindihan.
