All around the world, women of all ages, races and sizes experience sexual harassment.

Because of
that, the vast majority of women does not feel safe in the street or in public places.
To face that problem, I propose this idea:

A Google Maps for safety. That would be an app that can not only be used like a normal digital map,
but would also show the user how safe every area is. For example, it would show the criminality rate,
and more particularly the rape and harassment rates. We would come up with that kind of
information based on local studies and also personal experiences of women who have been in those
areas. Users would also be able to pin a comment wherever they want on the map and share their
experience there. Additionally, the users could post a picture of their predator in the exact place
where they were harassed, followed, mugged, raped, cat called, or just hurt in general. The posting
would be anonymous for the sake of the users’s safety.
Another service that the app would offer is shortcuts to call the police and send them an
automated message describing the situation with the user’s live location. Right after the call to 911,
the app would also automatically call someone via Face Time (a person the user would have chosen
when signing up, a social worker, or random people around the world who signed up to get those
calls and help strangers like the MyEyes app – it is not decided yet-) to make the user feel safer and
prevent the person bothering them from doing anything that could hurt them even more.
Furthermore, the app would connect victims with therapists and coaches, as well as provide them
with different resources to start their healing journeys and get better.

I am very passionate about this idea, because unfortunately, this is that I myself face almost
everyday. Moreover, all of my female friends have experienced the same problem. I even witnessed
my mom getting cat called in front of me and my brother. So instead of expecting men to behave
better, I decided that I had to do something and make sure myself, as well as people like me feel safe
in the street. Nobody should ever be scared for their lives and safety for simply going out.

And I think that this could be a profitable business because almost all women can relate to this
problem and are trying to find solutions to feel safer in the street. Moreover, apps can be very
lucrative by making users pay to get it, or if it were free, use advertisements and paying services (like
the comments, posts, and shortcuts one)
