questions should be in the range of 80 to 120 words.
vii. Section E consists of 1 source-based/case-based units of assessment of 04 marks each with sub-
parts.
Section-A (11X1=11)
Select and write one most appropriate option out of the four options given for each of the questions 1 –
11.
1.Figure given below is representing the dialysis machine for removing nitrogenous wastes in
patient with a kidney failure.

which substances out of the following in the dialysis fluid should be at a lower
concentration than in the blood of patient?
(a).Glucose and urea
(b).Glucose and amino acids
(c).Salts and urea
(d).Glucose and salts
2. Example(s) of liquid waste product in plants is/are
(a) rubber (b) clove oil
(c) gum (d) All of these
3. The human eye form the image of object at its
(a) Cornea
(b) Iris
(c) Pupil
(d) Retina
4.Observe the figure given below which represents the control of water concentration in the
blood
This is negative feedback system because
(a).It decreases the amount of water in the blood
(b).It increases any change occurring in the amount of water in the blood
(c).It reverses any change occurring in the amount of water in the blood
(d).It increases the amount of water in the blood
5. When calcium oxide is added to water, it completely dissolves in water without forming bubbles.
What products are formed in this reaction?
(a) Ca and H2
(b) Ca and H2O2
(c) Ca(OH)2
(d) CaH2
6. What happens when a pellet of sodium is dropped in water?
(a) It catches fire and forms oxide
(b) It absorbs heat and forms oxide
(c) It catches fire and forms hydroxide
(d) It absorbs heat and forms hydroxide
7. The change in focal length of an eye lens is caused by the action of the
(a) Pupil
(b) Retina
(c) Ciliary muscles
(d) Iris
8. The least distance of distinct vision for a young adult with normal vision is about
(a) 25 m
(b) 2.5 cm
(c) 25 cm
(d) 2.5 m
Q. no 9 to 11 are Assertion - Reasoning based questions. These consist of two statements –
Assertion (A) and Reason (R). Answer these questions selecting the appropriate option given
below:
(a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A
(b) Both A and R are true and R is not the correct explanation of A
(c) A is true but R is false
(d) A is False but R is true
9. Assertion (A) : Human body produces highly toxic substances, which if not eliminated may cause
the death.
Reason (R) : Excretory system removes nitrogenous waste from the body.
10. Assertion (A) : Myopia is due to the increased converging power of the eye lens.
Reason (R) : Myopia can be corrected by using spectacles made from concave lenses.
11. Assertion (A) : Hydrogen gas is not evolved when a metal reacts with nitric acid.
Reason (R) : Nitric acid is a strong oxidising agent.
Section-B (3x2=6)
Q. no. 12 to 14 are very short answer questions
12. What is meant by power of accommodation of eye?
13. Name the organs that form the excretory system in human beings and explain the reabsorption process in
excretory system.
(Or)
Describe the structure and function of nephron with the help of diagram.
14. Which Gas is produced when a metal reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid? Write the chemical
reaction when iron reacts with dilute
(OR)
Why sodium is kept immersed in kerosene oil?
Section-C (3x3=9)
Q.no. 15 to 17 are short answer questions.
15. A student has difficulty reading the blackboard while sitting in the last row. What could be the
defect the child is suffering from? How can it be corrected? Draw ray diagram.
(Or)
Why is a normal eye not able to see clearly the objects placed closer than 25 cm?
16. Describe the process of excretion in plants.
17.Write any two chemical properties of metals and non-metals.

What ¡s the power of a lens required to correct this defect? Assume that near point of the normal eye is 25
cm.
(Or)
Explain the structure and functioning of human eye. How are we able to see nearby as well as distant objects?

Section - E (1x4=4)
Q.no. 20 is case - based/data -based questions with 2 to 3 short sub - parts. Internal choice is provided
in one of these sub-parts.
20. Read the following and name the parts given below:

as sodium, potassium, and calcium) balanced in the body.

i. Identify the part 1 in excretion and write the function of the part.
ii. Trace the pathway of urine in our body.
