Q# Question Description CO BTL

1 Compare the features CSMA/CD and CSMA/CA. 2 K2

2 Explain the concept of Pure Aloha and Slotted Aloha. 2 K2

3 Differentiate between Stop and Wait flow control and Sliding Window flow control. 2 K2

4 Briefly describe stop and wait flow control protocol. 2 K1

5 Explain different types of spanning tree algorithms with proper example. 2 K1

6 “Data link protocols almost always put the CRC in a trailer, rather than in a header.”
2 K4
Justify the statement.
A sender uses the Stop-and-Wait ARQ protocol for reliable transmission of frames.
Frames are of size 1000 bytes and the transmission rate at the sender is 80 Kbps
7 (1Kbps = 1000 bits/second). The size of an acknowledgment is 100 bytes and the
2 K3
transmission rate at the receiver is 8 Kbps. The one-way propagation delay is 100
milliseconds. Assuming no frame is lost, the sender throughput is __________
bytes/second.
A group of N stations share 100 Kbps slotted ALOHA channel. Each station output
8 a 500 bits frame on an average of 5000 ms even if previous one has not been sent. 2 K4
Analyze the required value of N?
Given the original data is 11100 and divisor is 1001.
9 (i) Show the generation of the code word at sender side by CRC generator. 2 K3
(ii) Show the checking of the code word at receiver side by CRC checker.
10 Explain the working of following protocols with appropriate example and timing
diagrams: - Go Back N ARQ, Selective Repeat ARQ. 2 K2
