INTRODUCTION
7
Music is not limited to just humans; it touches every
living creature on this planet. The birds chirping
melodiously at dawn or whales singing their hauntingly
beautiful songs deep beneath the ocean waves - they too
are musicians in their own right.
The universal language of mankind, music transcends
linguistic barriers and speaks directly to our souls. It
communicates emotions that words fail to convey. A
single note can stir up feelings within us that we never
knew existed.
Moreover, music has immense therapeutic value. It has
been scientifically proven that listening to music
reduces stress levels and improves mental well-being.
From ancient civilizations using chants for healing
purposes to modern-day therapists incorporating music
into their sessions, its healing powers are undeniable.
In conclusion, music is the essence of life. It is a divine
gift that connects us all and enriches our existence. It
has the power to heal, unite, and inspire. So let us
embrace music in all its forms and allow it to guide us
on this beautiful journey called life.

FINDINGS
23
Listeners' preferences are not limited to either old or
new music; they appreciate both for their unique
qualities. However, it is worth mentioning that despite
their profound love for music, the majority of listeners
do not possess the ability to play any musical
instruments themselves. This intriguing phenomenon
raises questions about the nature of appreciation and
creativity. While these individuals may lack technical
skills, their passion for music remains unwavering,
highlighting the power of its emotional impact. Perhaps
it is this very love that drives them to be devoted
listeners, finding solace and inspiration in the melodies
created by others.
In conclusion, music holds a special place in our hearts
as it brings us comfort and allows us to express
ourselves emotionally. Whether we listen to classical
masterpieces or catchy pop tunes on Spotify for less
than two hours each day doesn't matter; what matters is
the impact it has on our lives - shaping our moods and
connecting us with others who share our love for this
beautiful art form.

CHAPTER IV
GROUP reflection

NEHARIN nAVAS
Music has been an integral part of my life, shaping me
into the person I am today. It has taught me to love and
appreciate myself, fostering a sense of confidence
within me. Through its melodies and lyrics, music has
brought out the best in me, allowing me to express my
emotions freely. Moreover, it serves as a calming force
for my mind, providing solace during times of stress
and anxiety. Music has also instilled in me a sense of
rhythm, enabling me to find harmony in various aspects
of my life. Furthermore, it encourages creativity and
enhances concentration, making every task more
enjoyable. In essence, music has played an irreplaceable
role in my journey towards self-discovery and personal
growth.
26
When I listen to music, I can transport myself to
another world, feel and experience things I never could
in my day-to-day life. It has the power to resonate with
my problems, happiness, mistakes, and relationships.
Through music, I find solace and understanding.
Moreover, music allows me to connect with people who
share my preferences. Whether it's discussing Western
music or bonding over different genres, there is an
unspoken connection between us.
Sticking to a single genre has never been my cup of tea.
I really venture into different genres and listen to those
music that really makes me happy. Mostly I listen to
indie-alternate, country and pop songs. From the soulful
melodies of Indian classical music to the foot-tapping
beats of filmy songs, every genre has its own charm.
Even from the classical Ghazals and Indian classical
music to Beethoven and Rossini’s compositions, every
single of these lifts my spirits up. Music has become an
integral part of my life; it uplifts me when I'm down and
celebrates with me during moments of joy.
In conclusion, music is not just entertainment for me; it
is a lifeline that brings immense joy and meaning into
my existence.

BHADRA
Music has the ability to deeply affect our mental states
and raise our mood. A person who has been affected by
music is not alone. This activity helped me realize that
music can unite people. Music has the power to connect
with and influence people in a way that feels
fundamentally different from other forms of
communication. Humans often feel that “no one
understands them” or knows how they “truly feel.”
Many resort to music to find connections with others to
express themselves or find a sense of understanding
among peers. Thanks to the music artists who have put
their heart and soul into creating, we feel connected
with other people and their difficulties, challenges, and
emotions. Music today continues to shed light on the
inequalities experienced by people worldwide, and it’s
clear that music will never stop acting as an agent for
change.
FATHIMA A.A
I personally like music because it helps me to express
my feelings in different ways. I usually hear music
when I'm alone, when I feel low about myself. By
hearing music I feel peace (hearing favourite music
with closed eyes). I create my own imagination, my
own world which nobody can enter. When I'm down
music helps me to boost up my confidence. I'm not
good at singing but sometimes singing song with high
voice was really fun and good it helps me to get rid of
tensions and pressure. My favourite music is I'm
already enough' this song have entered in my life has a
miracle and it created a beautiful place in my heart not
only this song there are so many other songs which I
enjoyed. Sometimes it helps me to boost up or light up
my mood. I let my inner child out while I'm listening to
music (crazy dance, singing along etc.) and some music
connects with real life incidents which gave life to
music .I will never stop hearing music because that is
the only thing which helps me to stay out of my real life
29
and find the new world which is full of peace and
happiness.
SEETHARCHA
Music plays a major role in my life. Listening to music
has become a part of my daily routine in the past few
years and it really helped me to cope up with academic
stress. I prefer listening to Indian music mostly. I
personally feel that Indian music expresses emotions in
a whole different level when compared to music of
other cultures. Some of my favourite music composers
are A R Rahman, G V Prakash Kumar, and Ilaiyaraaja
etc. Music holds a variety of emotions and hence I
recommend it to people dealing with stress. It will
definitely help them improve their day as it always does
for me.
