A. PROJECT SUMMARY

Security is a major concern in our everyday life. In concern with this issue, this
project was chosen which we will Interface a Fingerprint Sensor Module with
Arduino and will build a Fingerprint based Biometric Security System with door
locking. Fingerprint is considered one of the safest key to lock or unlock any
system as it can recognize any person uniquely and can’t be copied easily.

B. PROBLEM STATEMENT AND OBJECTIVES

i. Problem Statement
1) Outsider entry in workplaces.
2) Unrelated workers entry in particular workstations.

ii. Objectives
1) To differentiate between staffs and outsiders in workplaces.

C. WORKING PRINCIPLE

In this project, a gate that opens upon placing a stored finger at the fingerprint
module is used. The user must first enroll their finger with the aid of push buttons
or keys. Pressing the ENROL key will cause the LCD to ask for the user's location
and ID, where their fingerprint will be a stored. Thus, the user will use the
UP/DOWN keys to enter ID (Location). After choosing Location/ID, the user must
hit the OK key (DEL key). The LCD will now request that a finger be placed over
the fingerprint module. Currently, the user must place his finger over the
fingerprint module. The LCD will then prompt you to take your finger out of the
fingerprint module and ask you to put it back in.
