STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The purpose of this study is to determine the Level of Reading Comprehension in English Subject of Grade 12 students weekend class in Holy Trinity College. This study is conducted to answer the following questions: 1. What is Level of Reading Comprehension in English Subject of Grade 12 HUMSS students weekend class in Holy Trinity College? 2. What implications may help the Grade 12 HUMSS students weekend class in improving their reading comprehension in English subject? RESEARCH DESIGN This study used quantitative methodology particularly descriptive research design. According to Voxco (2021), descriptive research design is a kind of research method that seeks to gather data in order to systematically describe a phenomenon, situation, or population. The researchers used descriptive research design by determining the Level of Reading Comprehension in English Subject of Grade 12 HUMSS students Weekend Class through a survey questionnaire. By analyzing the level of reading comprehension in english subject of grade 12 HUMSS students weekend class, the researchers have determined the Level of Reading Comprehension in English Subject of HUMSS students weekend class using the data analysis. Reading Material Entitled The Voice of The Serpent Level of Reading Comprehension of Grade 12 HUMSS weekend class SUMMARY The purpose of this study was to determine and give implications that may help the students in improving their reading comprehension. 1. Data revealed that the level of reading comprehension of HUMSS 12 weekend class is low with the overall mean 2.56. 2.The result shows that the level of reading comprehension in terms of their content is average with the mean of 2.85 3.The data revealed that the level of reading comprehension in terms of organization of thoughts is low with the mean of 2.58 4. The data shows that the level of reading comprehension in terms of grammar, punctuation, and spelling is also low with the mean of 2.25. 5. From the result, it was revealed that the grade 12 weekend class under the HUMSS strand gave a deficient result in the study conducted. Not engaging well with any reading comprehension-related activities. CONCLUSIONS
The following insights are based on these indicators:
1.The contents of their answers are irrelevant but it makes sense. The respondents have read the stories with little to no full understanding of the story. 2.The organization of their answer needs more organization and which only contains weak hook, thesis statement, body, and conclusion. 3.Their grammar, punctuation, and spelling needs more assessment for it resulted to a slow readability of their responses. RECOMMENDATIONS Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, the grade 12 HUMSS weekend class has a low level of reading comprehension . With that, the researchers came up with the following recommendations: 1.The researchers would like to recommend to the institution of Holy Trinity College to conduct library hours for the students in order to further widen their vocabulary and to as well enhance their reading comprehension. 2.Provide frequent reading and writing related activities in typical and personal settings that will encourage the learners to spend more time in improving their comprehension. 3. Develop a proper time-management in regards to the jobs and other home or personal responsibilities in order to give some time to spend in reading. THANK YOU!
