For hexagonal geometry cells shown in the following figure. Locate co-channel cells. of (A) cell then determine the
cluster size for i = 2 and j = 2.

N= 22 + 22 + 2*2=12

For the following figure, determine the cluster size and the reuse factor.

Cluster size = 3

Reuse factor “Q”= √3 ∗ 𝑁𝑁 = √3 ∗ 3 = 3

What is AMPS

Advanced mobile phone system example for 1G

What is the maximum number of callers in each cell in AMPS?

Total Channels: We know AMPS has 416 channels.

Control Channels: 21 of these channels are reserved for control funcons, not user calls.

Reuse Factor: AMPS uses a reuse factor of 7. This means the same set of channels is reused in geographically
separated cells to avoid interference.

Here's how to calculate the maximum callers:

Available Channels for Calls: Total Channels - Control Channels = 416 - 21 = 395

Effecvely Usable Channels per Cell: Available Channels / Reuse Factor = 395 / 7 ≈ 56.4 (Since reuse implies sharing,
we can't have a fracon of a channel)
