LEARNING PLAN

Subject Area/Level: COMPUTER 12 Date: AUGUST 22-25, 2023 Week No. 1

Unit Topic: PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF A COMPUTER
Quarter No. 1

Stage I – Desired Results

Content Standard:
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the importance of the computer in our daily lives.
Performance Standard:
The learners should be able to create a campaign material that will highlight the impacts of computer in
today’s generation.
Essential Understanding:
A computer is an electronic device, operating under the control of instructions (software) stored in its own
memory unit, that can accept data (input), manipulate data (processing unit), and produce information
(output). Generally, the term is used to describe a collection of devices that function together as a system.
Essential Questions:
How would you describe computer? How would identify the parts and functions of a computer?
Learning Competencies:
The learners…
 students will learn about the essential parts and functions of a computer and understand
how they work together to perform tasks.
Learning Target:

I can…
 identify the parts and functions of the computer
 describe the importance of the computer in today’s generation.
Stage II – Evidence of Learning
The students will answer quiz or short assessment to evaluate students' comprehension. Encourage
students to share what they found most interesting or surprising about plate tectonics and continent
formation.

Stage III – Learning Plan

A. Explore
Day 1
1. Begin by discussing the importance of computers in our daily lives and how they are used for
various tasks.
2. Share the lesson objective with students: to learn about the essential parts and functions of
a computer.
3. Conduct a brainstorming session to gather what students already know about computer
parts. Write their ideas on the whiteboard.
Day 2
1. Present a slideshow or use diagrams and pictures to introduce the basic components of a
computer:
 CPU (Central Processing Unit)
 Monitor
 Keyboard
 Mouse
 Memory (RAM)
 Storage (Hard Drive or SSD)
2. Divide students into small groups and ask them to discuss the function of each computer
part. Encourage them to share their thoughts and present their findings to the class.
Day 3
1. Use an interactive computer component simulation (if available) to allow students to explore the
computer's internal and external components. This will help them visualize the parts and their
functions

2. Distribute worksheets with questions and diagrams of computer parts to each student.
3. Ask students to label the parts and write a brief description of their functions.
4. Review the worksheets as a class and clarify any misconceptions. Discuss the importance of
each part in the overall functioning of a computer.
B. FIRM UP
Day 4
1. Start with a brief recap of computer.
2. In pairs or small groups, assign each group a specific computer component (e.g., CPU,
monitor, keyboard).
3. Ask students to research their assigned component's history, development, and future trends
using computers or tablets with internet access.
4. Have each group create a presentation summarizing their findings.
5. Encourage them to use visual aids, such as printed images of computer components.
6. Have each group present their research and findings to the class. Use chart paper and
markers to jot down key points for each presentation.

C. DEEPEN
Day 5
1. Encourage students to appreciate the complexity of computers and the importance of each
component in making them work.
2. Assess student understanding through participation in group discussions, completion of
worksheets, and identification of the parts and functions of the computer.
IV. ASSESSMENT
1. Formative
2. Summative
