Dino sweater (child size) - EN

Size 134, for children about 8 years old.

Size:
body length: 47 cm
sleeve length: 36 cm
body width: 39 cm

Yarn:
Scheepjes softfun, gauge 20 st & 30 rows = 10 cm

Needles size 3mm and 3.5mm

colors I used:
Ribbing and bottom green: Scheepjes Softfun Forest 2535 (1 x 50 gr.)
Spikes: Scheepjes Softfun Candy apple 2410 and Bumblebee 2634 (10 a 20 gr)
Spots: Scheepjes Jade 2648 (some scraps)
Sky: Scheepjes softfun Light blue 2613 (2x 50 gr. was just enough)
Upper ground: Scheepjes River Washed Narmada 962 (1 x 50 gr)
Dino body: Sheepjes softfun Mahogany 2637 (2 x 50 gr)

This sweater is knitted bottom-up in 4 parts.

Front and back are mirrored, the neckline also so the sweater is reversable.
The spikes will be added at the end. You can knit the spots in or add them later by
duplicate stitching. (I did both because I was in the train when knitting the sleeve and
forgot my magenta yarn).

BODY:
Cast on (long tail) 76 st. with needle size 3mm and knit 13 rows ribbing (2K, 2P).
In the next row switch to size 3.5mm needles increase to 80 st. and knit the chart.
Use different balls or bobbins for each part to avoid (long) strands of yarn.

SLEEVES
Cast on 44 st on 3 mm needles, and knit 13 rows ribbing. Switch to 3.5 mm needles and
the yarn-color for the sleeve. In the first row increase to 48 st.
Increase every 4th row until 62 st, after that every 6th row untill 70 st.
Increse row: knit 2 st. make 1, knit until 2 st. are left, make 1, knit last 2 st.
Knit to the desired lenght (I did 92 rows).
For the Dino-sleeve: add random spots by knitting or duplicate stitch.
SPIKES
Cast on 14 st.
Row 1 and every other oddrow: Purl.

4: K1, ssk, K8, k2tog, K1 (12)
6: K1, ssk, K6, k2tog, K1 (10)
8: K1, ssk, K4, k2tog, K1 (8)
10: K1, ssk, K2, k2tog, K1 (6)
12: K1, ssk, k2tog, K1 (4)
14: ssk, k2tog (2)
15: p2tog (1)
16: kbf (2)
18: kbf, kbf (4)
20: K1, kbf, kbf , K1(6)
22: K1, kbf, K2 kbf , K1(8)
24: K1, kbf, K4 kbf , K1(10)
26: K1, kbf, K6 kbf , K1(12)
28: K1, kbf, K8 kbf , K1(14)
30: K (14)
31: purl
Bind off all st., I left the last st. on the needle and folded the spike double and crochet
along the sides with double crochet stitch (in US term single crochet).
You can also sew it together.
For the first small spike start wit 10 st.

FINISHING
Sew or knit the shoulder seams, pick up stitches along the neck and knit 6 rounds of
ribbing.
Sew the sleeves to the body and sew the arm and boby together.
Add the spikes to the sleeve by sewing along both sides of the cast on-bind off line.
