INTRODUCTION
2 The definition of the items of equipment covered by this schedule is contained in the Minimum
Build Document, but excludes Carried On Board Spares.
OBJECTIVE
3 The objective of HAT(E) is to demonstrate that the CWCS hardware functions correctly as
individual units and when linked as a complete system via the Ethernet Highway after installation
and setting to work on board ship.
AUTHORITIES
4 For the purposes of this Trial, the following roles are identified:
REQUIREMENTS
5.1 Equipment for the Trial is to be prepared ensuring that all pre-conditions are satisfied
and that all pre-requisites are met.
5.2 Ensure all documents required are produced or referenced during the Trial, these
include records of Observations recorded during previous Trials and actions taken.
5.4 Raise an Observation wherever a departure from the expected result is noted during
the Trial.
5.5 At the completion of the Trial, agree the validity and assess the results of the Trial,
together with the categorization of any Observations raised during the Trial..
5.6 Sign the Observation Reports in confirmation that the content provides an accurate
record of the Trial.
HAT(E) Chap 1
UK RESTRICTED Page 3
TP 3541 UK RESTRICTED
5.9 At the daily wash-up meeting, and in any event no later than the completion of the Trial,
agree the categorization of any recorded observations in accordance with the provisions of
this schedule.
5.10 At the completion of the Trial, agree the validity and the assessed result of the Trial.
LIMITATIONS
6 The tests performed within the HAT(E) are aimed at establishing the correct operation of each
major unit of the CWCS when connected via the Ethernet Highway and internal interconnecting
Ship’s Cables. There is no connectivity to external Combat Systems Interfaces.
ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
7 The result of each numbered test sequence is to be assessed against the following criteria:
7.1 The test is to be recorded as complete and satisfactory when the test steps have been
carried out and the expected results have been observed without the raising of a Failing
Observation.
7.2 The test result is accepted as correct when the result observed falls within the tolerance
permitted in that test for the measurement of the respective parameter.
8 An Observation is to be raised wherever the result observed during a test serial does not
match that defined in the expected result column of that test serial. Observations may be raised
to record comments pertaining to the test documentation.
10 The result of the Trial must be agreed between all parties at the final post-trial meeting at the
completion of the Trial taking into consideration all recorded Observations and information

10 The result of the Trial must be agreed between all parties at the final post-trial meeting at the
completion of the Trial taking into consideration all recorded Observations and information
contained in the Trial Report.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
11 No special safety precautions are applicable during normal operation of the equipment under
test and its associated test equipment during this Trial other than acknowledgement of normal
personnel safety precautions when working with electronic equipment.
12 Procedures for the commissioning and maintenance of the CWCS equipment are contained
in the Technical Documentation. Since equipment operates from a.c. power supplies and
generates high voltages to drive a Cathode Ray Tube display, appropriate Hazard Notices are
contained within the equipment and in the Documentation.

DESCRIPTION
1 A static test picture is displayed at the start of the test which comprises an unfilled, white
rectangle drawn on a 74% blue background (G = R = 0). This rectangle describes the extent of the
addressable portion of the display.
NOTE
THIS PICTURE IS NOT
TO SCALE.
2 Two live TV windows are displayed, window A in the top left of the screen and window B in
the bottom right. Each window is bordered by a white rectangle to show the extent of the TV
window. Each TV window has a resolution of 768 x 575 pixels.
3 The test pattern, selected from either TVDU1 or TVDU2, is displayed in one of the two
windows.
4 A text string is displayed above the centre line which identifies the test picture:
