the lesson (ENGAGE) What do you see in the picture? That is a farm.

Describe the farm. (The learners will answer)

Correct! What worker utilizes a farm? A farmer

How can you apply the quality of a (The learners will answer)
farmer like being hard working and
perseverance in your daily life?

Values Integration:
A person is persevering when he works
hard even when faced with challenges.
We should be persevering and
hardworking just like our farmers.

(EXPLORE) Let us read the problem.

Mang Juri has a circular plot of land.

He plants crops in his land. From the
center, it measures 2 km to any border
of the plot. What is the area of the
land?

PICK A DOOR GAME for the

question.

Who is the farmer? The farmer is Mang Juri.

Describe Mang Juri as a farmer? (The learners will answer)

What does Mang Juri plant in his He plants crops in his farm.
farm?

Very good! What is the distance from It measures 2 km.

the center of the plot to the border?

What is asked in the problem? What is the area of the land?

Exactly. Let us discuss how to find the

area of a circle.

In finding the area of the circle, we

need the radius of the circle.
What is the radius in the problem? The radius is 2 km.

In finding the area of a circle, we have

to use this formula:
A = 𝜋𝑟2

“A” stands for the area of the circle.

π is the pi. Its value is 3.14. “R” stands
for the radius of the circle. The
exponent “2” means that you have to
multiply the radius to it.

Let us solve the problem. A = 𝜋𝑟2

A = 3.14*(2km)2
A = 3.14*4 km2
A = 12.56 km2

What is the area of the circle? The area of the circle is 12.56km2.

How did you get the area of the circle? (The learners will answer)

Good job! Always remember that the

unit of measurement is also squared in
finding the area.
Discussing new concepts READ, LEARN, COMPREHEND
and practicing new skills #2
(EXPLORE) Let us have another problem.

Aling Christina is making a circular

pizza. From its center, it measures 10
centimeters to any border of the circle.
What is its area?

What is the radius of the circle? The radius is 10 cm.

Correct. Let us solve the problem. A = 𝜋𝑟2

A = 3.14*(10cm)2
A = 3.14*100cm2
A= 314 cm2

What is the area of the pizza? The area is 314 cm2

How did you get the area of the pizza? (The learners will answer)

Group 2:
Judith’s dining table is round and has a
radius of 13 cm. What is the area of the 530.66 cm2
table?

Group 3:

activity)

Values integration

Do you like our activity? Yes, Teacher

Is our group activity easy? The activity is easy teacher
Why it became so easy? It became easy because of cooperation
and unity.
Finding practical application The teacher will show another problem
of concepts and skills in and let the learner solve it on their
daily living “SHOW ME BOARD”.
(ELABORATE)
1. Find the area of the circle with a 50.24 cm2
radius of 4 cm.
2. Find the area of the circle with a 4,069 cm2
radius of 36 cm.
3. What is the area of a round photo 200.96 in2
