Park Machine Safely


Before working on the machine:
• Lower all equipment to the ground.
• Stop the engine and remove the key.
• Disconnect the battery ground strap.

Remove Fan Drive A


1. For wheel tractors turn front wheels full right for easier
access to install fan drive and hydraulic hoses.
2. Before working on the machine:
• Lower all equipment to the ground.

• Disconnect the battery ground strap.
• Hang a "DO NOT OPERATE" tag in operator station. B
3. Raise hood.
NOTE: Use a clean container to hold 20 L (5 gal) engine
coolant and retain to refill cooling system.

4. Remove deareation tank cap, open engine drain valve


(C) on left­hand side of engine and drain approximately
20 L (5 gal) of coolant from tractor in catch pan.
5. Remove cap screws (B) and front right­hand side
panel (A).

6. Remove cap screws (A) and inner shroud (B). B


7. Using wrench (C) on square tab, hold outer sheave
(D) and remove cap screw (E).

8. Pry outer sheave (D) evenly off shaft and roll pins.
NOTE: Retain and reuse original fan belt after
replacing fan drive.

9. Slide fan belt forward and remove from pulley shaft.


Retain removed fan belt for reinstallation.

10. Disconnect hoses (A) from deareation tank.

11. Remove engine breather tube (A).


12. Remove oil line (B).
13. Remove oil line adapter (D) from engine block and
install RE71255 plug in engine block
14. Disconnect solenoid connectors (E).
15. Remove coolant hose (C). Remove outer clamps and

save for reuse on new hose. Inner clamp is not reused
and can be discarded.
16. Remove nuts and cap screw (F) and fan drive
assembly (G) from engine.

Install Updated Fan Drive


NOTE: Install gasket with “This Side Out” toward front
of tractor and up arrows pointing upward.

1. Clean mating surface and install R272886 gasket (A).

3. Install RE326833 drive assembly (A) with nuts and cap


screws (B) removed earlier. Tighten to specifications.

NOTE: Remove and discard O­rings, if present,


from cap screws (A).

4. Remove cap screws (A) and O­rings. Retain cap


screws for reuse, but remove O­rings, if present, and

5. Remove breather plug (B) and discard plug and
O­ring, if present.
6. Assemble RE62981 breather (C) and RE304569
breather adapter (D) together before installing on
tractor.
7. Install breather assembly (E).
8. Remove plug and install 61M5016 elbow (F) pointing
rearward. Leave elbow loose until steel line is installed
later in instruction.

9. Install R267645 coolant hose (A) with 45 degree end


connected to deareation tank marked “TANK” using
clamps removed earlier.

10. Pull or gently pry original belt (A) onto drive and
against rear sheave.

Install Control Valve


NOTE: Only one welded nut is provided on bracket. The
other three cap screws are attached to threaded
holes provided on engine block.

1. Attach RE268241 control valve (A) and RE284942


valve bracket (C) with two 19M7800 cap screw (B)
and two 19M7865 cap screws (D).

4. Assemble new RE274066 engine breather tube (A) to


original engine breather hose (B) with R196590 clamp
(C).

5. Install new engine breather tube assembly (A). Retain


tube using R73291 clamp (B) and 19M7867 cap screw
(C), removed earlier during disassembly.
6. Retain wiring harness (D) with 19M7867 cap screw
(E), removed earlier during disassembly.

NOTE: Leave 1 to 3 mm clearance between fan drive
pressure line and timing gear cover.

7. Connect RE284468 fan drive pressure line (F) to


elbows (G) and (H). Tighten connectors.

NOTE: For track tractors installation of hoses and


fittings is easiest when done from right­hand side
of tractor. Remove cab air filter housing, filter
assembly, and disconnect fuel lines.

4. For track tractors only, lower cover (A).


5. Remove six cap screws and washers (B) and filter
assembly cover (C).

6. Disconnect filter restriction sensor harness connector.
7. Loosen lower filter housing bracket cap screw (D).
8. Remove upper filter housing bracket cap screw (E)
and remove filter housing (F).
9. Disconnect fuel line hoses (G) to allow for movement
of hoses when installing fan drive pressure and return
hoses.
10. Use a bar (H) and tie band to hold hoses out of the
way while installing fittings and pressure and return
hoses for fan drive.

transmission (S.N. 113598—).

11. Disconnect accumulator hose (E) for ease of supply


and return line installation. Not all transmissions will
have this hose installed (see note).
NOTE: For Track models remove PTO oil supply
line and straight fitting.

12. Install 61M5065 tee fitting (A) and attach RE311113
supply hose (B). Leave hoses loose until attached to
control valve.
NOTE: For Wheel models install 38H1416 cap to
other end of tee fitting.

NOTE: For Track models PTO oil supply line is installed Shown with Fan Drive Supply and Return Hoses Installed
and 38H1316 cap is not used.

13. Install 61M5012 fitting (C) and attach RE311114 return


hose (D). Leave hose loose until connected to control
valve.

14. For wheel tractors, install guard (B) using three cap
screws (A).
15. Install battery cover panel (C).

17. For track tractors, connect fuel line hoses (G).


18. Remove bar (H).
19. Install filter housing (F) using cap screw (E) removed
earlier.
20. Tighten lower filter housing bracket cap screw (D).
21. Install filter assembly cover (C) using six cap screws

24. Tilt hood forward to service position.


25. Route hoses (A) behind hood spreader.
26. Drill a 9 mm (11/32”) hole in hood spreader at location
(B).
27. Install AH97280 clamp (C) on hoses (A) and attach
with 14M7298 flange nut and 21M7572 socket head
cap screw (D).

28. Attach RE311114 return hose (A) to return port on


control valve. Tighten hose connection on valve and
transmission.
29. Attach RE311113 supply hose (B) to supply port on
control valve. Tighten hose connection on valve and
transmission.
30. Install clamp (C) on return hose and fuel line near

31. Install AH97280 clamp (A) with a VG11629 spacer (B),


a 19M7873 cap screw (C) and a 24M7055 washer
positioned between clamp and spacer.

32. Attach hoses to side of transmission case using two


AH97280 clamps (A) using existing screws (B).
33. Tie band hydraulic hoses and wiring harness where
needed

34. Install L171496 clamps (A) between hoses and fuel


line (B).

35. Remove EGR cooler vent plug (A).


NOTE: Filter and reuse coolant drained earlier
from engine.

36. Begin filling cooling system with reclaimed coolant.

When air is purged and coolant appears at the EGR
port, install EGR vent plug and finish filling system.
37. Install diverter panel and right­hand side front shield
and torque to specification.

(15 lb­ft) EGR Cooler Vent Plug

NOTE: Starting engine with belt loose between sheaves


allows belt to climb out of groove between A—Plug
sheaves. Belt will correctly position itself within
a few seconds after engine is started.
40. Tilt hood reward out of service position.
38. Start engine and run at idle for 15 seconds. Turn off
engine. 41. Perform Tractor ECU Controller Software Update
in next section.
39. Make sure belt is correctly positioned between
sheaves.

CAUTION: Keep hands away from exposed


fan blades. Blades have sharp edges which
may result in personal injury.

Removing and Installing VARI­COOL™ Fan


Belt
IMPORTANT: Remove this section from instruction

and insert in owner Operator Manual.

1. Raise hood.
2. Remove four cap screws (B) and right­hand front side
panel (A). B
3. Remove three cap screws (C) and lift diverter panel
(D) out.
IMPORTANT: Removing bleed screw will drain oil. Remove Front Side Panel
Loosen bleed screw only enough to bleed oil
back into reservoir (a maximum of two full turns).

4. Loosen jam nut (E), then loosen bleed screw (F).

5. Remove vent adapter (A) from housing.


6. Remove cap screw (B) and thread threw vent adapter
hole in to piston plate (C).
7. Tighten cap screw (B) to pull inner sheave (D) inward.

forward, make sure that belt contact surface
of pulley is not damaged.

9. Pry outer sheave evenly off shaft.

13. Install new fan belt between fan and fan hub so that it
is positioned between lower pulley halves.
14. Slide fan into place, install nuts and torque to
specification.

15. Pull or gently pry belt (B) onto drive shaft (A) and
against rear pulley.
IMPORTANT: When installing front pulley (C),
make sure that belt remains loose and is
not pinched between pulleys.

18. Check bleed screw to make sure it is closed and belt


is loose between pulleys.
IMPORTANT: If service cap screw is left in vent hole,
fan cannot adjust causing tractor to overheat.

19. Remove vent adapter (A) from storage hole and


service cap screw (B) from vent hole.
