Evolution in E-Governance and
Maturity Model
The notion of e-governance evolved in India
during the seventies with a focus on
development of in-house government
applications in the areas of defense, economic
monitoring, planning and the deployment of
information technology to manage data
intensive functions related to elections,
census, and tax administration.
Need for Maturity Model The maturity model provides
a mode to measure the methods and processes being
used, against a clear set of external benchmarks.
Maturity is indicated by the award of a particular
"Maturity Level". A maturity level assessment may
provide the following benefits.
The use if IT tools to automate the decision making can play a vital
role in bringing down the corruption and misappropriation of
funds of the government so that it can offer more Governance.
