Activity 1
Identify what types of claims are being presented. Write or type FACT,
POLICY, or VALUE.
1. Dwelling on negative news and gloomy forecasts makes it easy to be
hopeless about the future.

2. The COVID 19 is a great equalizer that it chooses no one.

Activity 2
Evaluate and give your reasons why the following sentences have such
claims and formulate your own generalization.

1. Life is not a bed of roses. (Claim of Fact)


Reasons: It is Claim of Fact due to the fact that not all of lives are
full of neither rainbows nor ponies yet it is full of bumps of
challenges and problems.
Generalization: As we all know Life is not a bed of roses but more
like a bed of thorns since life is full of problems and challenges like
the pain is feels like u have been stung by a thorn.

2. We should overcome trials in life for us to achieve our goals. (Claim of


Policy)
Reasons: To achieve our goals, we should always be considerable
and always think ahead
Generalization: In order to achieve a pleasant and untroubled
lifestyle, one should overcome the trials that are throwed within
your life

3. Contentment in life is the only way to be happy. (Claim of Value)


Reasons: one may not have a lot of money or a wealthy lifestyle
nevertheless having a family that will support you no matter what
will surely fullfill your heart.
Generalization: You should always be satisfied to what has been
given to you even the littlest things due to the fact that not all
good things last

Direction: To further check your understanding of the topic, formulate
your own claims of fact, policy, and value. Write your sentences on your
answer sheet. Use the rubric for scoring as your guide.
