ABSTRACT

“THE IMPACT OF TIKTOK USAGE ON THE SELF-ESTEEM OF STEM STUDENTS


OF NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY” undertaken at Senior High School, Basic Education
Department, Northwestern University, Laoag City. July 2022, a Research Paper: prepared and
submitted by ALONZO, ADAJAR, DELA CRUZ, ACOSTA, BALLEN, BONOAN, and
ESPIRITU Senior High School, STEM. July 2022.

In this quantitative study, the researchers assessed the Senior High School STEM Students

who were enrolled in Academic 2020-2021. The study aims to determine the impact of tiktok usage

on the self-esteem of STEM students, which had a significant impact of the wellbeing of the

students. The researchers distributed questionnaires online to a total of 94 student respondents via

Google Form containing the 3 sections:(1) Time Spent on Using Tiktok (2) Influence of Tiktok on

Self-esteem (3) The Effect of TikTok Usage on the Self-Esteem of Students.

Using survey research design, the data gathered were analyzed and interpreted using

frequency, percentage, range scales and mean was used to assess the overall response of the

respondents in each item. The findings revealed that STEM students at Northwestern University

routinely used tiktok. The overall findings of the study indicate that the use of tiktok had no

negative consequence on STEM students' self-esteem and had a genuinely positive effect.
