The piece is written for a left-handed pianist, that means, the performer should use only his/her left

hand.
Not only for playing but he/she should ‘forget’ about their right hand. The whole idea of the work is to write
a piece for someone who can have an injury of the right hand. The piece can be treated as a small
performance. The pianist should then behave himself/herself as if they would have a paresis of the right arm
during the whole presentation on stage (included page turning and so on).

The are used also octave keys instead of an 8va line.

Synthesiser is programmed in Helm connected with the Max patch. The Helm presets and Max Patch are
available on demand.

Technical requirements:

Piano with preparations (C)

Stereo PA system (B)
Mixing console with 6 inputs connected to PA (A)
2x contact microphone for piano pedals (3), (4)
2x cardioid condenser microphone for piano preparations (5), (6)
MIDI keyboard min. 5 octaves (D)
MIDI pedal sustain type (E)
Cables and stands
Table for a computer with audio interface (F) 1 x 1,5 m
Power socket for the computer

The piece is scored for any kind of piano.

Preparation:
The pianist should be equipped with the following items:
1 glass rod (length: 29-30 cm)
5 plastic straws
12 tuner’s mutes
I
11 cap erasers
6 golf tees

The pianist should be additionally equipped with:

1 plastic knife (to put the preparation items between the strings)
2 pieces of a sandpaper (different graininess) stuck to the shoe soles (contact point with a pedal)

Preparation:
The preparation in the whole piece is permanent except the glass rod which is put on the strings at the
beginning and taken in the indicated moment (information: glass rod out in the score)
Here you can find an explanation, how to prepare the piano properly, without any damages on the
instrument:
plastic straws: https://vimeo.com/311333801
golf tee and cap eraser: https://vimeo.com/311333019
The cap eraser should be cut at the one end to place it on the string (shown in the video)
tuner’s mute: https://vimeo.com/311332865

The scale design of the piano (number of strings per note and construction of the whole sound board) can be
different on each instrument, so it is allowed to adapt the indicated preparation to the piano.
