Fig. 7 shows the error analysis result of the estimated


winding resistance at different amplitudes of id = 0, and the
corresponding error analysis process is illustrated as follows.
1) Measure the winding resistance (Ra = 0.373 Ω) at stand-
still.
2) Estimate the winding resistance value (R) by estimator
(10).
3) The estimation error of (10) due to the ill-conditioned
problem (or nonideal voltage measurement) can be
Rerr = R − Ra .
As can be seen from Fig. 7 and Table III, the estimation
error Rerr decreases with the increase in the amplitude of id ,
and it can be negligible when id ≥ 2 A, which is similar to
the simulated result of Case2 in Fig. 4(a). Thus, from the error
analysis results in Fig. 7, it is preferable to inject id = 2.5 A for
the parameter estimation throughout this paper.
Fig. 8 shows the measured currents and electrical angular
speed during the injection of id , which shows that the influence
of injected id on the speed is negligible owing to the moment
of system inertia. The pulsewidth of id = 0 is set to be 50
ms, and the ill-conditioned problem due to nonideal voltage
measurement can be well solved by using error analysis. Figs. 9
and 10 show the estimated stator winding resistance and rotor
flux linkage at normal condition (the room temperature is T =
25 ◦ C), from which it is obvious that the estimated parameter
values are quite close to the nominal values listed in Table I.
In addition, since there exist iron losses (see Appendix C) and
temperature rise in the winding due to on-load, it will cause the
estimated winding resistance (0.388 Ω) slightly larger than the
measured winding resistance (0.373 Ω) at standstill.

resistance and rotor flux linkage will be estimated at t = 0, 20,
