DS60 Precision Digital Tester
This Manual mainly introduces wiring, calibration, setting and usage of DS60 Precision
Digital Tester. Please read this Manual carefully before using it.

I. Brief Introduction to Main Properties

DS60 Precision Digital Tester is a highly accurate and reliable force (torque)
measuring instrument. After improvement over the past years, now different types of the
testers can be applied to fields such as precision force (torque) measuring, sensor
adjustment and testing, material properties testing, stress-strain measuring and transient
peak value measuring.

1) Synchronous digital ratio type A/D conversion technology provides superhigh

resolution and measurement accuracy: a display division of 100,000~500,000, a
measuring resolution for mV/V ratio signal of 0.01μV/V, an A/D conversion rate of
50~500 Hz, and a comprehensive accuracy <0.005%FS (repeatability, linearity).
2) For synchronous digital ratio technology, standard voltage source in the instrument
simultaneously conducts A/D conversion to bridge voltage of the sensor and output
signal. The ratio measuring data is obtained through application of digital
computation methods and thus drifting of the instrument is reduced significantly.
3) The measuring scope of input signals that can be selected through programming,
which is applicable to various strain gauge transducers whose sentivitity is 1mV/V,
2mV/V, 3mV/V and 4mV/V respectively. Signal measuring scope and input polarity
of each data channel of the instrument is set by the software separately.
4) 7-section liner correction capacitoy is applied to improve measuring accurancy of
the system.
5) Capable of storing and calling calibration data of sensors with 9 different measuring
ranges.
6) The two calibration methods include null position calibration, system load calibration
and
input sentivity calibration.
7) Unit conversions are various, including N, kgf, lbf and measured value of output
sensitivity
of the sensor (mV/V).
8) Quick peak value measuring and maintening capacities, retention time of the peak
value can be set by the software.

II. Safety Rules

1). Before power-on, please understand whether voltage of alternating current power

IX. Setting and Check of Instrument Working Parameters (Pr)

When reading this section, please discriminate selecting status and setting status of the working
parameter.

Parameters in various data channels of the instrument are separated from each other, through
setting working parameters for each channel; the instrument could be fitted with different sensors
and meet different measuring requirements, for example range of two standard dynamometry
sensors are 100N (output sensitivity is 3mV/V) and 5kN (output sensitivity is 2mV/V) separately,
the 100N sensor is used for pressure measuring, and the 5kN sensor is used for tension and
compression measuring, which can be resolved through application of multi-data channel
measuring function provided by DS60 instrument. The 100N sensor is set at data channel 1, and

6
DS60 Precision Digital Tester
the 5kN sensor is set at data channel 2. These two different measuring requirements are met
through parameter setting of data channel 1 and 2. In this example, instrument working
parameters (Pr) of channel 1 and channel 2 are set as follows:

For example: same as the above case, after completing calibration of the 10kN point, if the
data that has been input into the instrument is incorrect or any deviation in this calibration data
is caused by swing of the dynamometer in the calibration process, and the instrument displays
the indicating message〖CP- 3〗of the third calibrating point at that moment, press <-> key
to make the instrument display〖CP- 2〗, hereafter, user could re-calibrate the second
measuring point.

CAL1: Calibration procedure 1 is the calibration method that is used to input data into the
sensor’s output sensitivity (mV/V), which is mainly used to transfer and restore the calibration
data, load data and the corresponding output sensitivity data of the sensor of 7 measuring
points (or referred to as calibrating points) other than the null position could be input at the
maximum. After input of all measuring points data and the corresponding output sensitivity
data of the sensor is completed, the sensor and the instrument should be correctly connected,
calibration procedure 0 (CAL 0) is applied to conduct calibration of the sensor’s null position
output, the method is as follows:

1) Correctly connect the sensor to the instrument.

1)Press <> key when the instrument displays〖CAL 1〗, press <> key when the instrument
displays the indicating message〖CP- 1〗and the instrument will display the load data of the
first measuring point. The <N> indicator will be lightened at this moment, input the load data of
the first measuring point (which should be the force data that takes N, kN, or MN as the unit or
the torque data that takes N.m, kN.M as the unit, force data with other units should be
converted into force data or torque data with the above mentioned data, the conversion
coefficient of N and kgf is 1kgf=9.80665N), press <> key and the <mV/V> indicator is
lightened, press <> key after the output sensitivity data of the sensor that is corresponding to
the first measuring point (the unit is mV/V) is input, the instrument will save the output
sensitivity data of the sensor that is corresponding to the first measuring point, and re-display
the indicating message〖CP- 1〗of the first calibrating point. Press <-> or <+> key to make the
instrument display the indicating message〖CP- 2〗of the second calibrating point, press <>
key the same as the previous method after the output sensitivity data of the sensor that is
corresponding to the first measuring point (the unit is mV/V) is input. Calibration data of other
measuring points could be input through the same method.

1) This instrument is able to input load data and the corresponding sensitivity data of 7
measuring points other than the null position. For input that is less than 7 points, the
calibration method is after data input of the last point is completed, the instrument will
14
DS60 Precision Digital Tester
re-display the indicating message〖CP- M〗of the Mth calibrating point (M is the number of
the last input calibrating point) at that moment, press <Reset> to withdraw from the
calibration procedure and restart the instrument.

For follow-up point that don’t need to be calibrated (such as the point after the M+1 point in the
above case), data input is unnecessary. Should enter the data input status of the follow-up point,
the load point data and the corresponding sensitivity data should be set as ‘000000”!

4). After input of all measuring points datum and the corresponding output sensitivity datum of the
sensor is completed, the sensor and the instrument should be correctly
connected; calibration procedure CAL 0 is applied to conduct calibration of the
sensor’s null position output.

5). If the input load data and the sensitivity data need to be checked, please refer to the section of
Check System Calibration or Sensitivity Input Data. If the input data is
incorrect, the incorrect load data and the corresponding output sensitivity data
of the sensor should be re-input through the application of CAL 1 procedure.

CAL 2: Skipped
