exercises.
A learning program that ideally meets the academic needs and interests of every
student.

Example:
When a student excels at a particular unit in class, they are
frequently given the chance to complete an independent study.
While doing so, the rest of the class use a traditional learning
technique to comprehend and master the course material.

Focuses on teaching lessons that are appropriate for each student's grade level and strives to adjust the curriculum's level and
complexity to each child's ability and level of academic readiness.
Example:
Grade Skipping, Subject Acceleration, and Curriculum Compacting.

• The practice of advancing gifted students to higher grade levels as a result of their
abilities.

Grade Example: You may choose for your child to skip first grade and go straight from
kindergarten to second. It’s also common for a child to skip second grade, moving from
Skipping first into third.

• Occurs when gifted students are given the opportunity to work at advanced levels in a
specific subject or subjects but are not fully pushed into the next grade level.

Subject Example: A second grader might move to the third-grade classroom for math, then move
back to their second-grade classroom for all other subjects.
Acceleration

• A gifted student remains in his or her regular grade level classroom at all times, but is
given classwork that is specifically designed to challenge him or her

Curriculum Example: If a student has a complete understanding of the math curriculum being
taught, he or she should spend the time the rest of the class is learning math doing math
Compacting as well. His or her math will be more advanced than the rest of the class, but it should
be math.
The goal of enrichment is to provide extended learning opportunities and challenges to students who have already
mastered, or can quickly master, the basic curriculum.
Example:
Feld Trips, Guest Speakers, Service-Learning Projects, Hands-on Projects, and Problem-Solving Exercises.

Allows students to devote more time to studying concepts of

greater depth, breadth, and complexity.

enrichment, which keeps them engaged.

Enrichment gives students the chance to pursue education in their

own areas of interest and expertise.
It is a change or modification to the curriculum that enables a gifted or talented student to participate, gain information from, and exhibit that
knowledge.
Example:
