Explain the STCW required Trainings for Seafarer with minimum of 100 words (Each) with Photos

1. Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF):

Advanced Fire Fighting training is a crucial component of a
seafarer's education, mandated by the International Convention
on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for
Seafarers (STCW). This training equips seafarers with the skills
and knowledge necessary to respond effectively to fires on
board ships. It covers advanced techniques for firefighting,
including command and control of firefighting operations,
advanced fire prevention methods, and the use of advanced
firefighting equipment. Participants learn how to handle various
types of fires, such as electrical fires, fuel fires, and chemical
fires, in different parts of the ship, including engine rooms and
accommodation areas. The training also includes practical
exercises in simulated firefighting scenarios to ensure seafarers
can apply their knowledge in real-life situations, thereby
enhancing the safety of the vessel and its crew.

2. Basic Safety Training (BST) or BT:

Basic Safety Training (BST), also known as Basic Training
(BT), is a foundational course required for all seafarers under
the STCW convention. It encompasses several essential
elements aimed at ensuring the safety of personnel on board
ships. The training typically includes modules on Personal
Survival Techniques (PST), Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
(FPFF), Elementary First Aid (EFA), and Personal Safety and
Social Responsibilities (PSSR). Seafarers learn basic survival
skills, such as donning immersion suits, operating lifeboats and
life rafts, fighting small fires, administering first aid, and
understanding their responsibilities in emergency situations.
BST/BT is designed to provide seafarers with the fundamental
knowledge and skills needed to respond appropriately to
emergencies at sea and to contribute to the overall safety culture
on board vessels.
3. GMDSS Radio Operator or General Operator Certificates (GOC):
The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) Radio Operator or
General Operator Certificate (GOC) training is essential for seafarers responsible
for operating radio equipment on ships. GMDSS is an internationally recognized
system that ensures rapid and efficient communication in emergency situations at
sea. The training covers the principles and operation of various GMDSS
equipment, such as VHF radios, MF/HF radios, satellite communication systems,
and emergency position-indicating radio beacons (EPIRBs). Participants learn
how to use these communication tools to transmit distress alerts, communicate
with other vessels and shore stations, and receive important safety information.
GMDSS Radio Operator/GOC training is crucial for maintaining effective
communication and coordinating rescue operations during emergencies,
thereby enhancing the safety of maritime navigation.

4. Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties

(SDSD):
Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties
(SDSD) is a mandatory course under the International Ship and Port
Facility Security (ISPS) Code, which aims to enhance maritime security
and prevent acts of terrorism and piracy. Seafarers with designated
security duties learn about the importance of maritime security, the roles
and responsibilities of personnel in security operations, and the methods
for detecting and responding to security threats. The training covers
topics such as access control, security patrols, handling of suspicious
objects, and emergency procedures in case of security incidents. By
completing SDSD training, seafarers contribute to the implementation
of effective security measures on board ships, ensuring the safety of
crew, passengers, cargo, and the vessel itself.

5. Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast

Rescue Boats (PSCRB):
Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast
Rescue Boats (PSCRB) training is essential for seafarers assigned to
operate and manage survival craft and rescue boats on ships. The
course covers the launching and recovery of lifeboats, liferafts, and
rescue boats, as well as the use of associated equipment such as davits,
winches, and launching appliances. Participants learn how to handle
survival craft in adverse weather conditions, evacuate personnel from
the vessel, and perform search and rescue operations. The training also
includes practical exercises in simulated emergency situations to
ensure proficiency in handling survival craft effectively. PSCRB
training equips seafarers with the skills needed to safeguard lives
during maritime emergencies and comply with international
regulations for ship safety.
