Role As a Trainee Paraplanner, the successful candidate will work as part of a team alongside the
Description firm’s advisers, paraplanners, and administrators to provide clients with a professional ongoing
financial planning service.

You will be given full training and development, and be able to grow with the practice. All
professional exams will be fully funded within the role.

General • Making sure you follow the firm’s compliance processes and procedures at all times in

o Including but not restricted to T&C, complaints, financial crime, anti-money
laundering, anti-bribery, data security, date protection, conflicts of interest,
inducements, record keeping and best execution
• Making sure you follow relevant advice and sales procedures at all times
• Complying with the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, the FCA’s Conduct rules /
FCA Statements of Principle & Code of Practice and the relevant FCA rules at all times
• Keeping up to date with relevant regulatory, product, legislative and technical
requirements
• Making sure all client contact is carried out in a professional and courteous way
• Making sure all client files are compliant on an ongoing basis
Making sure all client records are retained in line with the firm’s Date security / data
protection/ record keeping policy

Specific • Making sure relevant CPD is maintained and recorded accurately


responsibilities • Maintaining all standards of performance as required by the firm
• Obtaining and maintaining the level of competence as required by the firm
• Making sure all clients are contacted in accordance with the agreed level of services
offered
• Making sure clients receive relevant documentation in a timely way
• Prospecting and contacting potential clients in accordance with the firm’s business
plan
• Making sure sufficient client information is obtained before any recommendation is
made
• Undertaking appropriate product and market research
• Making sure suitable recommendations are made at all times and all supporting
documents are maintained
• Support and contact potential and existing clients in accordance with the firm's
business plan and supervisor's guidance
• Prepare client letters/proposals containing advice and recommendations, reports and
research documentation. Assist in the provision of all advice within a strict ethical and
compliant framework and under supervision of an FCA approved person within the
team.
• Obtain data on in house and 3rd party products (e.g. price quotations, terms,
illustrations and conditions on insurance and pension products). Prepare initial
analysis of products and recommendations for client presentations.
• Deal with client and insurer queries to completion as appropriate, via telephone or in
writing. Ensure that client queries are appropriately investigated, and accurate
responses given.
• Ensure that performance measurements are checked, evidenced and signed off.
• Verify compliance paperwork and ensure that client risk profiles are included in their
files.
• Discuss client objectives with the relevant financial adviser, identifying and obtaining
necessary client information.

Essential • Minimum Qualification – Graduation with subjects including Economics, Business


requirements, Mathematics, Law, Business Finance and Taxation (min. 70%).

• Good knowledge and understanding of the high-level standards expected by the FCA /
awareness of other relevant legislation such as; FCA money laundering section, Joint
Money Laundering Steering Group and other relevant financial crime legislation,
including the Bribery Act

• Good written / oral communication skills
• General IT skills
• Ability to compile reports
