IoT Projects
Synopsis:
The study's main aim is to Design and Implement an IOT-Based Automated Water Regulation for
Fish farming system that will automatically monitor and manage the fish pond and its perimeter.
In achieving this aim, the following specific objectives were laid out as follows to design an
automated system that can be used to perform the following; change the water every two days,
fill the tanks after draining the water from the tank, and develop an IoT app that can be used to
monitor the process and control the valves.
The aim of the project
1. To design and develop an IoT device that controls and monitors the water supply to the fish
pond
2. To design and develop a web application that can be used to visualize the fishpond and also
Cost: 250K (Cost only covers the IoT device and Web app. It does not include cost of setup and web
hosting)
1. Dashboard for visualization and database
2. Construction of the IoT Device
3. Firmware for IoT Device
4. Online mentorship and training
5. Support for report writing
• The IoT should enable real time monitoring of fire outbreak in a building and report to security
agents or house owners
• The system will trigger alarm to alert house owners and neighbors
• The system will also trigger a water sprinkler to stop the fire
Synopsis:
Internet of Things (IoT) technology is promising in improving the productivity of various crops which
often faces challenges such as water irrigation problem, fertiliser wastage, and intensive labour involved
to monitor the growth process. The fertigation involves the application of fertiliser via irrigation
network. This involves mixing of liquid fertilizers with water and it can be labour intensive. It also
requires human intervention which may not be adequate. The use of IoT automated system can improve
the efficiency and help improve the use of resources in a drip irrigation system. Hence, this project
proposes the design and development of IoT fertigation system for crop production.
The system will perform the following:
1. Design and development of the IoT device for fertigation control
2. Design of dashboard for monitoring and control of the fertigation system
3. Test and evaluation of the Developed system
Cost: 270K (Only covers the IoT device and Dashboard. Does not include the setup)
1. Dashboard for visualization and database
2. Construction of the IoT Device
3. Firmware for IoT Device
4. Online mentorship and training
5. Support for report writing
An internet of things (IoT) biometric attendance system is a modern solution that combines
internet of things with biometric recognition to track and record attendance in various setting
such as work places, organization and schools. This project proposes the use of biometric data
such as fingerprints to uniquely identify individual and verify their attendance. The system will
help to prevent manipulation of attendance record that is faced when attendance is taking
manually using pen and paper.
1. To design an IoT biometric attendance system using the raspberry Pi Pico-w
Microcontroller
2. To design a web application using DASH framework for capturing user biometric details
and attendance
Cost: 250K
1. Dashboard for visualization and database
2. Construction of the IoT Device
3. Firmware for IoT Device
4. Online mentorship and training

Project 6: Topic: Determination of Optimal Power Supply for IoT Devices: A Use Case
Synopsis:
Adequate power supply remains a critical factor for the successful deployment of IoT devices. An
unreliable power supply can lead to the shutdown of IoT-connected devices, resulting in data loss or
critical mission failure. This problem arises in remote areas with no electricity supply or areas where the
electricity supply is unstable. Solar power is considered a viable solution to address the reliability of
power supply. However, there is a need to determine the right size of solar panel and battery required to
provide reliable power for the IoT devices while optimizing cost. To achieve this, the daily energy
consumption, sunlight availability, solar panel size, battery capacity, efficiency losses, and safety margins
must be considered.
Hence, this project aims to develop a model to determine an optimal solar power supply system for IoT
devices with maximum reliability and minimum cost.
