Vande Guru Parampara

From the Discourse of Puri Shankracharya(Gurudev)

1. Vibhuti Paad - Our mind has two qualities , it can take any shape and it can
take many shapes. Whatever we think of ,our mind becomes like that . Using these
principles you can acquire any sidhis(quality, knowledge, art etc) you want. With
Sidhis you can become whatever you want to.

Example- If you want to have a personality of an Warrior think about a warrior and
say to your self that i am the same warrior ,you should also completely believe
in it.Then it will become the reality.

**** For sidhis you need to have saiyaam (self control). Here it means you need to
gave great concentration. Concentrate on the quality you want to acquire .

2. Itchashakti(Willpower)-According to Puri shankracharya(Gurudev) there is the

same principle behind anything we do. (Gyanati-- itchati-- Karoti) which means,
that with the knowledge of importance(Mahatmya gyan) of doing something, you get
the willpower to do it and later you actually do the task.

***Also until you complete a task which you wanted to do, or a part of a big
project you decided to finish, don't jump on the other task. It is important to
follow it ,as it develops inner satisfaction and gives confidence to complete the
next task.

3,. The most important thing is the deliberate effort to control your mind(budhi
purvak prayas) to control your mind. Your mind is your master when you think of
Shiva(ista) your mind is your friend when you think you other sadhakas and your
mind is your slave when you think of your Goal.

4. My experience says that even if you have all sorts of knowledge it can not be
put into practice unless you put enormous effort .

5. The yamas and Niyamas are very important and they must be followed . They are
based on the principle of behaving with others the way you want them to behave
with you. Example - You don't want others to lie , so you should also not lie to
others( Truth is something which uplift others). Sidhis where acquired by Asuras
also, as they also did same tapasya(followed self-control) but after acquaring the
sidhhis they miss-used it and also loosed their self control. Eventually even
sidhhas like Ravan had to meet a bad fate. So after acquaring sidhhis you should
not become arrogant, you should also follow Yama and Niyam even after getting
sidhi. I believe that even asuras has to follow self- contol when they want to
acquire power.
