Sports Equipment
● sneakers / trainers / tennis shoes
● sports/gym bag (duffle bag) - inside the gym bag there are trainers, a volleyball, and a
bottle of water
● Racket = tennis, squash, padel, badminton ○ Table tennis/ping-pong = paddle
● Team uniform / team jersey (the shirt)
● towel
● hiking/walking boots ○ they need to be durable, waterproof, comfortable, thick sole with
good grip
● (a pair of) shorts / swim trunks
● net (tennis, basketball)
● golf club
● baseball bat
● hockey stick + helmet, puck

What are they doing?

- They’re running / jogging on/along the beach
- Win - They’ve won the match. One player is holding a trophy and they’re wearing medals
- Score a goal v’s shoot a goal
- Stadium - The supporters/fans are celebrating their team. They’re cheering for their team.
- Goalkeeper / Goalie = He’s making a save
- The team is losing/winning. It’s a very close score, you can see the scoreboard

What are some other events we can go to that is different from sports?
- go to a concert for example, see Cold Play
- go to the theatre to see a play / see an opera
- go to the cinema to see a movie
- go to a restaurant
- go to a museum
- go along the Rhône or the Saône River to row in a boat

Past Simple Tense:

You worked yesterday.
You did not (didn’t) work yesterday.
Did you work yesterday?
This tense is dated and terminated (a finished action) and we generally say WHEN

Continued past tense (simple past): What did you do last weekend?
- Last April, I went to Barcelona Spain
- I rowed along the river
- I walked on the beach
- I walked in the mountains
- The weather was nice and sunny
- I ate at restaurants to try tapas
- I went shopping because it’s cheaper than France
- I stayed in a hotel, near Barcelona
- There were more Italian than French there
- We stayed for fourteen days.
- My favourite part was the visit to the Sagunto village

What sport did you do when you were at school?

I would / used to play team sports at school.
My uncle was a great basketball player many years ago.

For painting you need:

- a good landscape/subject
- you can paint by sitting or standing
