Activity II: Checking for Understanding
Directions: Answer the following questions at the back portion of this page.

1. What does it mean when we say God is the Almighty Father?

When we say God is the Almighty Father, it means God is very powerful and has control
over everything. "Father" represents God's care and support for humanity. It shows that
God takes care of us like a loving parent would.

2. If God is really all-powerful, why can’t He wipe out all evil?

Even though God is all-powerful, He allows evil to exist because humans have the
freedom to make their own choices. This means that people can choose to do good or
to do evil, and sometimes they choose the latter. Additionally, there may be other
reasons why God permits evil that are beyond our complete comprehension

3. In what way can we deliberately prove the powerlessness of God?

Proving the powerlessness of God deliberately is not possible because an all-powerful

God is believed to have unlimited power. The very concept of an all-powerful God entails
the ability to do anything logically possible. Therefore, there is no way to intentionally
prove that God is powerless.

4. What is the only power that prevents the evils of the world from becoming
intolerable?

The power that stops the world's evils from becoming intolerable is different for each
individual. It may come from having faith, meaningful relationships, inner strength to
endure hardships, or striving for justice and doing good. These sources of power
provide support and resilience in the face of adversity, helping individuals cope with and
overcome the challenges posed by evil in the world.

5. Why does physical evil exist?

Suffering and disasters, which are examples of physical evil, occur because the world is
flawed or due to natural processes in the universe. The brokenness of the world and the
way nature operates contribute to the existence of these forms of suffering. They are a
result of imperfections and the inherent workings of the natural world we live in.

6. Where can we attribute the physical evil that we experience?

It may be attributed to a world that has fallen from its original state or as part of divine
plans that we may not fully comprehend. Scientific perspectives, on the other hand, see
physical evil as a natural outcome of the processes that govern the natural world,
without invoking supernatural or divine explanations. Hence, the explanation and
understanding of physical evil differ based on one's religious or scientific standpoint.

7. Why is it impossible for God to be the cause of evil?

God cannot be the cause of evil because He is completely good and fair. Evil originates
from factors separate from God, such as the choices humans make with their free will
and the imperfect state of the world. These factors are independent of God's nature and
actions.
