FIRST LESSON:
READING: (Gen 3:8-15,17-19).
The Temptation and Fall of Man
8. That evening they heard the LORD God walking in the
garden, and they
hid from him among the trees.
9. But the LORD God called out to the man, Where are you?
10. He answered, I heard you in the garden; I was afraid and
hid from you, because I was naked.
11. Who told you that you were naked? God asked. Did you
eat the fruit that I told you not to eat?
12. The man answered, The woman you put here with me
gave me the fruit, and I ate it.
13. The LORD God asked the woman, Why did you do this?
She replied, The snake tricked me into eating it.
14. Then the LORD God said to the snake, You will be
punished for this; you alone of all the animals must bear this
curse: From now on you will crawl on your belly, and you
will have to eat dust as long as you live.
15. I will make you and the woman hate each other; her
offspring and yours will always be enemies. Her offspring
will crush your head, and you will bite her offspring's heel.
7:So Herod called the visitors from the East to a secret meeting and
found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.
8:Then he sent them to Bethlehem with these instructions: "Go and
make a careful search for the child; and when you find him, let me
know, so that I too may go and worship him."
9:And so they left, and on their way they saw the same star they had
seen in the East. When they saw it, how happy they were, what joy
was theirs! It went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where
the child was.
10:then seeing the star, they were gladdened by a very great joy.
11:They went into the house, and when they saw the child with his
mother Mary, they knelt down and worshiped him. They brought out
their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and presented them to
him.
12:Then they returned to their country by another road, since God had
warned them in a dream not to go back to Herod.
SIXTH LESSON:
(LUKE2:1,3_7)
1:At that time Emperor Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout
the Roman Empire.
3:Everyone, then, went to register himself, each to his own hometown.
4:Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of
Bethlehem in Judea, the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there
because he was a descendant of David.
5:He went to register with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him. She
was pregnant,
6:and while they were in Bethlehem, the time came for her to have her
baby.
7:She gave birth to her first son, wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a
manger---there was no room for them to stay in the inn.
17. And he said to the man, You listened to your wife and ate
the fruit which I told you not to eat. Because of what you have
done, the ground will be under a curse. You will have to work
hard all your life to make it produce enough food for you.
18. It will produce weeds and thorns, and you will have to eat
wild plants.
19. You will have to work hard and sweat to make the soil
produce anything, until you go back to the soil from which
you were formed. You were made from soil, and you will
become soil again.
SECOND LESSON
Genesis 22:15-18
15. The angel of the LORD called to Abraham from
heaven a second time,

night in the fields, taking care of their flocks.
9:An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone over

you, which will bring great joy to all the people.
11:This very day in David's town your Savior was born---Christ the Lord!
12:And this is what will prove it to you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths

praises to God:

15:When the angels went away from them back into heaven, the shepherds said
to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened,

26:In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in

FOURTH LESSON
ISAIAH 11: 1-3, 4,6-9
1. The royal line of David is like a tree that has been cut down; but just as
new branches sprout from a stump, so a new king will arise from among
David's descendants.
2. The spirit of the LORD will give him wisdom and the knowledge and skill
to rule his people. He will know the LORD's will and honor him,
3. and find pleasure in obeying him. He will not judge by appearance or
hearsay;
4. he will judge the poor fairly and defend the rights of the helpless. At his
command the people will be punished, and evil persons will die.
6. Wolves and sheep will live together in peace, and leopards will lie down
with young goats. Calves and lion cubs will feed together, and little children
will take care of them.
7. Cows and bears will eat together, and their calves and cubs will lie down
in peace. Lions will eat straw as cattle do.
8. Even a baby will not be harmed if it plays near a poisonous snake.
9. On Zion, God's sacred hill, there will be nothing harmful or evil. The land
will be as full of knowledge of the LORD as the seas are full of water.
